Bob Baumrucker forwards a postcard from Rhodesia, as follows: "Another couple of months touring southern Africa with friends from Johannesburg—and my bride of two years. Stopping off just north of Salisbury—en route from the Zibabwe ruins to Victoria Falls—to get some of our chrome shipped in direct rather than route it through Russia at a 2-300% markup. Had some really narrow escapes with elephants and take on the lions in open Land Rovers later—then the Cape of Good Hope, the coast road to Durban, etc." What we need from Bob is more etc.!

Orrie Hobbs and Shep Wolff head the list of members of the Council of Alumni. Rainy weather forced Shep indoors and he took time to send a bundle of news from you-all.

It would be interesting to hear details from Bob Dilley about living in Mexico, where Bob has just moved. Irv Bettman sent a group picture of a silver-haired group which turns out to be your class officers and their wives, taken last May. This affair, which takes place every spring, combines business and pleasure.

Ed and Amber Elmer scouted Maine recently and were reported to have looked up Peanuts Winslow. We'll have to take it as rumor rather than fact, for now.

Birthday greetings came to Shep from Scotland—from Red Gristede who recently spent three weeks there.

Don Cruikshank visited with Smoke; Joe Adams in Japan during the winter Olympics. Don's note said to read attached story but I couldn't find the attached story. Maybe it will show up later. Don said that Si Leach addressed the Dartmouth Club of Ontario in June. ,

Shep writes about Irv Bettman's wife: "On July 6 Gertrude Bettman with her son-in-law climbed Mount Washington (6288 feet) to the top and down again again the same day and wasn't even puffed! She walks five miles every day regardless of rain, snow sleet, heat, etc. and then comes home and moves rocks, trees, plants (and even Irv when he gets in the way) in her landscaping efforts around their lovely home here in Etna." Phew!

In and out of Hanover this year—the Ed Elmers, Sam Child at his son's graduation, Rod Hatcher and 32's reunion; the Bill Walshs, the Bunc Clarksons, the Bill Wendells, the Ed Gruens, Jim Rice.

Parker Soule, now retired, is warming up to his job as the new Newsletter Editor. Seems to us that Park has admirable qualities for this job.

That cheese merchant from Petersham, Mass., Ed Hutchinson writes about the vanishing Indian symbol: "I shall replace my grandson's T-shirts with Smileys!"

Gray Magee joins the growing '31 mob in Florida. The town of Lighthouse Point, Fla. must be near something, but where?

Random thoughts from Luke Watson: "Must we consider gone forever the Indian tradition? Was the "female bit" necessary? I have two grandfathers, a father and two uncles who are, I fear, spinning in their graves at the recent changes." Luke has been having physical problems but says he's on the mend.

Shep is mailing out the current dues bills at 8c per each, and he would greatly appreciate prompt return of the dough in order to save subsequent 8c charges which really count up.

Vic Rockhill is now a member or the board of directors of G A F Corporation.

Secret information received regarding Bob Biesel indicates that, among other things, he is active with the Chicago Crime Commission, Hull House Association, and the International Trade Club. He still hangs his hat at General American Transportation Corp. in Chicago.
