Hello again. Taking time from exams, your correspondent is a bit rushed at this writing. But then there is always Carnival around the corner. The action will take place on the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th for the strong chubbers in the College.

Enough of that; now for that massive pile of news. Bourke Welch writes from 2805 Woodshire Drive in Hollywood, California. He says that he has no real success story to write about. He left the Navy at Charlestown, S. C., and went to Miami for a week. When the money ran out he headed for New York. Then came the meeting with the famous George Carr. Together our lads bought an old Pierce Arrow and started out across our continent. They made many stops, the best being South Bend, Chicago, St. Louis, Denver, Yellowstone and Caspar, Wyoming. With the aid of cashed War Bonds, the men reached the West 'Coast. Bourke tried unsuccessfully to get into a school of journalism, a job as. copy boy was the best he could do. This office does not know whether G. G. Carr is still going West or not.

Next is a communication from "C. M."Schoelles. He says that the Schoelles Painters' Supply Company of Sanborn, N. Y., is not booming due to adverse business conditions. There is a new day dawning, they tell us. Also our boy has been trapped by a woman. On October 12 he took the vows. Congratu- lations are in order for Mr. and Mrs. Carl M. Schoelles. Keep us posted, C. M.

Lieutenant (jg) Dick Hunter, ChC USNR, sends greetings from the USS General W. A. Mann, AP-112. He is the Chaplain aboard. Back in the States for awhile after a jaunt to Manila, he wants to know the chances of a Carnival on the Hanover Plain. Good chance, Dick; just come early. He is now in Boston for a three-months ship- overhaul.

Next there is word from John Lowe who is burning the books in the College of Business Administration at B.U. John Kelleher and Bob Davidson are also there. John reports that Ensign Al Leshane of Dedham is out on the broad Atlantic; he just signed USN. Good luck, old Al, we will see you in 20 years. Ted Beattie is at the" University of Miami, Florida. Phil Chamberlain married his Carnival Date of 1944. They are living in Boston or about there. Congrats to you and the little woman, Phil. Thanks a lot for the information, John. Do it again sometime soon.

A note from Joe Baker in Brookline, Massachusetts, announces that he was released from the service late in October. That was some half-dozen moons ago, Joe. How about some new dope on yourself? Ensign JohnO'Rourke was overhauling a patrol gunboat in "Bremerton late in October. When they had done about $200,000 worth of overhaul, they were ordered to decommission her. Nice typical Navy organization, John? We guess that John has been discharged and is home in St. Albans, N. Y. Let us have the word, old man.

Mike Sapack has just returned from Bikini (October) and is both a member of DNAA and of the civilian population of the United States. His home is in Jessup, Pennsylvania, and he may have ten children and a wife or so for all the information we have. Give us a little scoop, will you, Mike? Mike Rapak joined the DNAA from Cornell Med School in N. Y. C. We must assume that he is working hard and expects to be a doctor in the next few years.

Bob Dodson left Harvard this semester to take part in the Antarctic expedition. He is in the section that left from Beaumont, Texas, in the middle of January. Bob expects to be gone for about 18 months. Keep a few warm thoughts for us children in the cold, cold North while you are gone, Bob. Before he left, Bob saw a lot of Bob Owen and Herb Fritts at Harvard. Bob Owen is there now, but I guess that Herb has a diploma from NROTC.

Reed Haviland is at home in Norwalk, Connecticut, at this writing, but no more than that can be said other than that he joined DNAA. Bob Simmons is now in Med School at the University of Michigan. JackDartnell is taking courses at NYU in hopes of going to Buenos Aires to do aviation advertising. We're with you, Jack. Don Evans is coaching football and baseball and teaching Latin at the Millbrook School for Boys, Millbrook, N. Y. Sandy Gottlieb is headed for Indo China in the OSS, and according to a communique just received from that individual here is the straight dope:

Sandy was sent to Chelsea with John Knipple and Neil Meuhlhauser since they were not given commissions due to medical disqualifications. At the base they met BobSebilian (since returned to Dartmouth), Swetchnick, Dick Clapp, Markeley, KenThompson, Peterson. Swetchnick is at Dartmouth now. John Knippie finally received his commission. Sandy was the last to leave; he left with a medical discharge on 17 October. He is now working as a social investigator for the Department of Welfare in N. Y. C. He likes the work a lot. Our boy has seen Bill Lipton, Joel Spector, BuddyGreenberger, Bob Bloch, and Doc Ehrlich, all in civilian drapes. Sandy saw Lieut. EdMarkham, USMCR, and Ensign Kennedy in Washington. At latest report Sandy is planning to fulfill a lifelong dream of attending school in Paris. He will go to Paris next November to study for an M.A. at the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Paris. Hank Gensler called him as he was closing his letter to tell him that he had been discharged at Guam on his request.

That's all for now. It was much better this month, I mean the letters. Keep up the good work. Address all the mail again to Mr. J.Frederick Pfau, 2 Allston Place, Boston 14, Mass. Good luck, and write again with some facts and figures about you and the guys and gals.
