Another summer has slipped by and our interests seem to be turning away from the numerous mountain and seashore resorts back to our jobs, or as is still the case with many members of our class back to the reopening of college. In the sports world the 1948 football season should prove one of the best ever, but this year's pennant races and World Series are giving football plenty of competition for the number one spot in the sports limelight. But now let's get on to a little news about what's been going on in the class.
Weddings and engagements are still dominating the headlines for the Class of '46. According to the clippings coming in to us since last June we see that: Spence Smith was married to Lois Shethar. Andy Carstensen served as Spence's best man The betrothal of Margaret Jobson to Bill Bowers was announced shortly before Bill graduated last June Dan Fuller was married to Katherine Noyes last June. Dan is now associated with the Connecticut General Insurance Cos From Hanover we see that Prof. and Mrs. Allan Macdonald have announced the engagement of their daughter, Jean Allan, to Bill Hessey. Bill received his degree last June Dave Blankenhorn was also recently married out there in Cincinnati, Ohio, but we haven't received word yet on just who his bride was. Dave is now a doctor with his residency at the Cincinnati General Hospital.
Wedding bells will be ringing for JimRoberts in another few months. Jim is now engaged to Charlotte Eilersgaard BobSeidel and Janet Conrad were engaged this past summer Doug Frerichs and Ruth Colcord took their vows early in July in the Chapel of the Beloved Disciple of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest. After graduating from Dartmouth Doug went on to the Medical School of the University of California Dick Chittenden was recently married to Katherine Wheat. Dick is now with the Perfection Canning Cos., of Newark Dickson Loos and Beatrice Dingwell have announced their intentions to wed. Dickson is now attending the George Washington University Law School GeraldD'Amore was married to Marguerite Cleary during July. Gerald is back at school after serving as a Captain in the Infantry for four years Harold Frank and Charlotte Adelman have a winter wedding planned.
Al Garben and Nancy Hendrickson have announced their engagement. Al is now a doctor, he graduated from Long Island College of Medicine in June Colin Gunn and Mary Hunter were married on July 1..... Ralph Merritt and Jeanne Hill were married in June, Ralph is with Stoner, Butler and Murphy, certified public accountants An autumn wedding is planned for Calvin Gurney and Cornelia Pineau, according to recent announcements Joe Schachter and Judy Spector were engaged in June. Joe is now studying for his Ph.D. at Harvard and will enter New York University Bellevue Medical School The last wedding announcement for this issue is from Joe Kepes, who is now completing his studies at the School of Medicine in Rochester, N. Y. Joe was married to Margery Coon early in July.
While reading the Buffalo Courier-Express the other evening we noted that RobertHeussler sailed for China to spend the summer at the University of Pekin. In the fall he will go to Shanghai, where he'll be for the next two years Ignatius Tikellis was graduated from the Harvard Medical School and is now interning at, the Delaware Hospital in Wilmington From Pat and CharlieBodley we hear that they are now the proud parents of Miss Karen Sue Bodley, born June 15 Lowell Thomas Jr. is once again traveling and gathering material for future lectures. "Sonny" is in Iraq with a camera team We received word from Western Reserve University that Jim Jones and MiltFromson were awarded degrees from that school on June 16. Jim received his M.D. and Milt his Master's in Physical Education Andy MacDowell is now with the Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, N. Y Frank Malavasic is with the Albany Office of the New England Mutual. In his spare moments he's been serving as the Skipper of the Little Falls (N. Y.) Sea Scout Unit Macy's recently announced that Earle Angstadt has been made Department Manager of Candies for their New York store According to the "Dartmouth's In Town Again" board at the Hanover Inn we see that Paul Power,Bob Beethanii Don Smith, John Pomeroy, and Mr. and Mrs. Brad Morrison were Hanover visitors Tom Gillaugh has taken another step in the right direction. He's been appointed as an agent and representative of the John Hancock Company in Dayton, Ohio.
