HOUSTON ALUMNI had a powwow with an important Indian, who was just completing the firewater circuit, in the person of Sid Hayward, on April 2 last. We had a pleasant gathering followed by dinner at the Houston Country Club.
We liked Sid's wampum, which consisted of excellent color slides of Hanover, and noticed an advantage which such slides have over moving pictures, namely, that the viewer has a great deal more time to appreciate the details of a scene and that a few quiet remarks from a commentator are a better accompaniment than the canned "yappity-yap" of sound films whose commentators are probably close kin to radio announcers who can't let a few seconds pass without saying something.
We failed to arrange a fishing trip for Sid, but this did not daunt him, for within a few minutes after his arrival, he had an invitation from one of the foremost fishing authorities in .these parts, Andy Anderson, of the HoustonPress. We would like to hear how Sid came out on the bass fishing.
