The new DARTMOUTH CLUB OF THE SOUTH SHORE began its first year with the opening of Eleazar Wheelock's Tavern promptly at 6:30 p.m. at the Red Coach Grill, Route 3A, Hingham, Mass., on Wednesday evening, October 5.

Following the tavern hour, 54 Dartmouth men sat down to a good steak dinner and made ready for a program voted as the best ever held on the South Shore of Massachusetts Bay.

Arrangements were made by Tom Parker '36, and the meeting was presided over by Gus Pratt '44, the Club's first president.

Chairman of the committee, Dr. WallaceDrake '14, introduced the speaker, Dartmouth's own Ross McKenny, who, through story, anecdote, humor, philosophy, and movies of the the north country, made the evening a complete success. In fact, this opening meeting was received so enthusiastically that all present agreed that it bodes well for the future of the club.
