A very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to all of you from June and me. This is being written from our Juno Beach, Florida hideaway where we have spent the month of November. Pretty darned monotonous - 75 to 85 degrees and sunny every single day - we love it!!! Heading for home on the first of December. While here, I received a wonderful batch of information from our friendly treasurer, Ed Brown. He sent us several of the bill forms he got back with checks for our class dues. Several wrote notes, which I'll mention and others indicated changes of address, which I will list. Thanks much, Ed for the goodies. Just to be sure noses don't get out of joint, I have put all the information alphabetically. Here Goes !!!
Stan Abercrombie writes from San Francisco that he transferred there from Washington, D.C., and is now highway safety management specialist with the U.S. Department of Transportation. He covers California, Nevada, Arizona, and Hawaii. His Margaret goes on trips with him, and since their son lives in La Jolla, they see him often and plan to visit their married daughter in Kodiak, Alaska. Stan's address is; 100 Font Blvd., Apt 5-C, S.F. 04132. Dr. Ed Bishop's new address is: 18 Banbury Lane, Oxford Apts., Chapel Hill. N.C. 27514.
Dr. Herman Chase has a new abode at: 175 Ferris Ave., Rumford, R.I. 02916.
Dr. George Engel was awarded the Jacobi Medal by the Alumni Ass'n of Mt. Sinai Hospital and Medical School for "distinguished contributions to medicine" and the Gold Medal of the University of Rochester School of Medicine, "in recognition of his integrity, inspiring teaching and devotion to medical students." Bet you were thinking of those things back when we were on the gym team, George. Congratulations to you.
Ted Germann writes that he retired from teaching in June and is planning the sabbatical he has waited for, and - "since no one offered me one, it is a give-it-to-yourself deal." After getting, his youngest daughter Lili off to continue her studies in France at Bordeaux; getting her next oldest sister married to William Clay Howe, a teacher at Choate, in August, he is ready to go. Going to visit a third daughter in Canary Islands, then to Malaga, Bordeaux (with Lili) to meet her fiance and his family, who operate a vineyard and produce a good "appellation controlee," whatever that is. Have fun, Ted, and write.
Major George Goss has a new location - 1068 Weymouth St., Bethesda, Maryland, 20014.
Laurie Herman, my favorite St. Pete newspaperman, asked Ed to "Goose the Boys" of the Big Green. Guess Ed didn't get the message across too well. He said he had seen Dave Hedges in Houston. Laurie has been to Japan, Alaska, Atlanta, and New York and now hopes to be home for a spell.
Ed Hill said he is operating his own consulting business on Cape Cod, with some degree of success and had just celebrated his sixth anniversary with wife #2. Congrats, Ed.
Dave Luck can now be found at 931 University Place, Edwardsville, Illinois, 62025. Come on up to Chicago for lunch, Dave.
Art Moebius writes that, "Fred Rath was a dynamic preservationist on the panel at the Annual Meeting of National Trust for Historic Preservation, in Portland, Oregon." Good for you, Fred, but send me more about yourself, Art.
Now the alphabet had 26 letters the last time I checked, and I've gone through the first 13, so - I'll save the balance until January.
I must mention a personal letter that I received from Bill Baird, the Omaha Bard. I quote, "I want to add my congratulations to the Class of '34 for its selection of the new class secretary. I was delighted to learn of your getting stuck with that job, and will eagerly look forward to future columns containing your deathless prose - end of quote. Great message, but I detest two words in it, namely stuck (I was honorably elected) and deathless (pretty rough on an older man, weren't you, Willy?) Thanks for the note though, Bill, and give me more ammunition for the column.
See you all after the football season ends in January.
Secretary, 1046 Pawnee Road Wilmette, Ill. 60091
Treasurer, 17 North Balch St. Hanover, N.H. 03755
