While the vast throng of undergraduates, alumni, faculty and friends of the College assembled in Hanover on October 7 to participate in the Dartmouth Night festivities, a smaller group of equally loyal sons of the College met at the Blackstone for its first dinner meeting of the fall.
Highlight of the evening's program was the talk by Jonathan Jenkins '49, stellar member of last year's outstanding gridiron squad. Jenkins, now playing with the Colts, Baltimore's bid to professional football fame, brought us up to date on the game with interesting personal reminiscences of experiences in both college and professional play. After meeting and hearing him, it was apparent that there was unanimous agreement in the group that the Colts' opportunities would be greatly enhanced by the addition to the squad of one or more with his stature.
Another item o£ particular interest to all in this area is that the Dartmouth Glee Club will be in town again for the first time in ten years. In order that this concert, tentatively scheduled for March 27, will at least equal the extremely successful affair in 1939, a committee headed by George Parkhurst '30, Jud McCarthy '26, and Dick Koester '43 is already at work on plans and arrangements. As there will be wine, women, and song aplenty, with a dance following the concert, this will be a splendid opportunity for all alumni to treat themselves and their families and friends to a wonderful evening.
