An event many times heralded in this monthly report has finally come to pass. In one column we hopefully spoke of it as "the most successful event ever undertaken by Dartmouth alumni here." Now we may emphatically underscore these words. The party on March 31, featuring a concert by the Glee Club on its spring tour, was one about which all of the more than 500 alumni and guests present will be talking for many months.
The main ballroom of the Sheraton Belvedere Hotel, scene of the party, was packed to capacity. Guests included not only alumni from throughout this State, but also from the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee. Dr. Andrew Truxal, President of Hood College, was on hand with ten attractive undergraduates from the campus in Frederick. These young ladies assisted by twenty local debutantes, undoubtedly made the dance following the concert more entertaining for the members of the Glee Club. From the enthusiastic expressions of many of the Glee Club, from the spontaneous bursts of song which filled the ballroom, at frequent intervals during the dance, we are pleased to assume that our guests from Hanover enjoyed the party as much as the rest of us.
Credit is due to the concert committee headed by George Parkhurst '30, Jud McCarthy '26, and Dick Koester '43, to Al Barrett '44, and Bob Moyer '43 for the excellent publicity both the concert and the College received in the local newspapers, to "Bib"Hudgins '26 whose attractive program will remain a souvenir item on many bookshelves, to Art Lund '27, Leonard Dunn '27, DonMason '13, Bob Hazard '29, Carl Burton '29, and the score of others whose efforts made this party the success that it was. We hope that it will not take another eleven years to do it again.
