This is the Alumni Fund issue of the MAGAZINE and because of this the space for class notes is limited. This report on the Alumni Fund is very worth while and merits the careful consideration of every one of us. For manyyears Sliver Hatch has given his time and effortas our Class Agent and has done a fine job.We all owe him much. Dartmouth Alumni arenoted for their loyalty and their pride in theircollege, and justly so. Soon the call will goout for contributions to the 1949 fund. Letevery7 1905 man get behind Sliver and make arecord for our class of which we shall be proud.

Harry and Mrs. Smith drove east with friendsto attend the Yale game. Needless to say ev-eryone was delighted with the outcome of thatthrilling battle. On their return trip they vis-ited Washington and other interesting placesalong their route. Unfortunately, Harry didnot run across any 1905 men on this trip. RufusDay was one of the many college presidentswho attended the inauguration of GeneralEisenhower at Columbia.

There is a group of men who are doing a fine piece of work for the College but w7ho do not get the recognition they deserve. These are the men who give much time and effort in interviewing candidates for admission to Dartmouth. From our own class Harry Peyser is chairman of the interviewing committees in his section. We are proud of these men who are making this unselfish contribution to the College.

The roll of grandchildren continues to grow. Stillman and Mrs. Batchellor are proud grandparents of a baby girl. Stillman reports that his health has not been good and that he will be forced to sell the most beautiful ranch in California and move close to town. Stillman says, "I can't drive a car and my ranch is eleven miles from town into the coastal redwoods. After thirty years living in paradise, you may know how I feel.'' We are all very sorry to hear of your trouble, Stillman, and we do hope that your illness is temporary and that you will make a full recovery.

Jim and Mrs. Donnelly announce the ar-rival of a granddaughter, Deidre ElizabethDonnelly, October 25. Deidre's father is JimJr., who graduated from Harvard Law Schoolin June and has been in the office of the Attorney General. Jim Jr. and his family livein Newton. Jim's daughter Rosemary went toFrance last fall to travel and to study at theSorbonne. Daughter Betty is in the First National Bank of Boston. Jim says that he and Mary are now rattling around in their house which seems pretty empty except when his grandson comes up to make things lively. The Donnelly family has attended all the football games within striking distance. This included one trip to Hanover. They are looking forward to the June reunion and to meeting old friends again.

I am glad to report good news from HenryThrall which you will be happy to hear. Henry is improving steadily and walks about his home without even the aid of a cane. He and Mrs. Thrall are expecting to spend the winter in California.

Let me remind you all to make plans to attend the reunion in June. Word is coming to me from many members of the class that they expect to be there. Let's make this one of our best.
