Under the leadership of Chairman PercyRussell '29, the interviewing committees have been busy on Saturday afternoons talking to applicants from this area for admission to the College. In addition to Percy the following men have assisted in this important work: Lowell Haas '35, Hal Leich '29, Hal Fitz '23, Mat Jones '23, Karl Dollak '35, Joe Fanelli '32, and Larry Reeves '33.
We had an interesting talk by Merriam Smith, White House correspondent, who told of some of his experiences under both the Roosevelt and Truman administrations. It was a real pleasure to have our old friend and loyal supporter Oliver A. Quayle 111 '42 back for a visit. In one of the finest talks we have had the privilege of hearing, Oily told us about his work with the United World Federalists. We are all mighty proud of the grand job he is doing.
Dartmouth men are head-lining the speaker's- program for the next two weeks. First, we will have a talk by F. Lyndon Small '20 of the National Institute of Health and then our former prexy Herbert Woods '10 will speak on Labor Legislation.
The arrival in Washington of footballer Joe Sullivan '49 to do some coaching for Georgetown adds the name of another loyal Dartmouth son to our roster. It was good to have Joe join our Tuesday lunch group and this fall before the Washington-George Washington game we feel it would be appropriate to have Joe and Rog Antaya '44 who coaches at the latter institution tell us who is going to win the game and how!
Bradford D. Cole '43 has been appointed Chairman of the Glee Club concert and dance at the Shoreham on March 30. He is busy trying to get sleeping accommodations for the fifty members of the Glee Club and in turning out a large crowd of alumni for this affair. Among those assisting Brad are Ben Burch '32. Karl Dollak '35, Don MacKay '45, LowellHaas '35, Rad Hibben '43, John English '40 and Hal Fitz '23. We are anticipating one of our grandest parties ever on this occasion.
Bill Howe '3O, Chairman of the Annual Spring Dinner, is doing his best to break all attendance records at this party which will be held at the Hotel 2400 on April 25. Be sure and save the date! Cocktails will be served at 6 and dinner at 7. President John Sloan Dickey 29 and George Colton '35 will be the speakers. As an added attraction we expect to have our old Quartet reunited to furnish excellent music. You can't afford to miss this one!
