Eddie Hunter, agreeable to suggestions from several members of the class, has named as a Committee of Arrangements for our Fiftieth Reunion: Stevie, Johnnie Ward, Chan Cox and Bunker Bishop. He has agreed to sit in with the Committee himself and to act as a representative in Hanover for the Committee. The class is asked to send in any suggestions for this Reunion.
Charlie Chase writes that Helen and he will certainly be in Hanover next June for the big reunion The George Frenches are planning on spending the winter in Florida, as has been their custom for some years This summer Bunker and PearlBishop motored from their home in Waterford, Me., to Lancaster, N. H., and had a delightful call on Roxy McCarten. Bunker sees Lawrence O'Leary (one of Bill's boys) quite often. Lawrence teaches in the local school in Waterford Paul Eckstorm's doctor says he is in fine shape physically and Paul hopes to get on to Hanover next June. We certainly hope so, Paul, 50 years is a long time to be away from Hanover.
Hoppy retired as President of the National Life Insurance Company, but at the April meeting of the Board of Directors he was elected Chairman of the Board Howardand Gene Hall are proud grandparents. Katherine Kimball Hall arrived July 3 at La Canada, Calif., where Elise and Kim now live. Howard reports a busy season at the Howe Caverns this year. They have had the pleasure of calls from the Remsens and the Wards Ros Bogue is another booster for reunions, and Beulah and he are planning on being in Hanover for the 50th. Ros is reminded of the old Chicago crowd that came to Hanover in the fall of 1897, Ben Greer, GusHartigan, George Sunderland, Dan Trude,Jim Smith and himself, and the experiences down in Elm House.
Ned and Gertrude Warren frequently drive over to Stratford, Vt., to see Gardy Cobb. Gardy still owns his old home there and spends considerable time in the old town "T" Wood maintains his active life in his native town of Middleboro, carrying on an extensive insurance business, as well as serving as Vice President of the Savings Bank and on the Executive Committee of the local Trust Company. For many years he has been interested in Scouting and at present is President of the Council Area, including cities and towns in and about Middleboro. Son Andy is now located in Boston with a well known firm of lawyers.
Two marriages are of interest to the class, that of Lucia Capwell Salomon to Beresford A. Hole, June 3, and that of her son, Roger Blaine Salomon, to Miss Elizabeth Helen Lowenstein at Detroit, Mich., June 14, 1950.
We understand that Johnnie Ward, ChanCox, Henry Taylor and Jim Kimball recently had luncheon in Boston and that serious consideration was given to various phases of the 50th Reunion Frankie Newhall, although in retirement, keeps busy with his library, church, lodge and YMCA interests. He and Mau:le will be in Hanover next June.
.... Bill Sykes has recovered from his attack of flu, and is now busy with his farm. One of his chief crops will be onions, having planted over an acre of them, and Bill says when he comes to Hanover next June, and is all bent over, it will not be due to old age, but just a crick in the back from weeding onions.
