We are in receipt of a long newsy letter from Ted Hancock, and he says definitely he will be with us in 1951 in Hanover with all flags flying A portrait of "Hoppy" by the Boston artist, Julius D. Katzieff, has been completed and will be placed in the directors' room of the home office of the National Life Insurance Company at Montpelier, Vt We have only recently been advised of the death of Arthur Hersey (see obituary) who passed away last summer. JimKimball reminds us that he and Hersey roomed together freshman year at "Ma" Sherman's, and that Eddie Gibbons lived up stairs. The principal of the Hingham High School was Jacob O. Sanborn, class of 1864, and these three were the first boys he had ever sent to Dartmouth in 25 years of teaching in Hingham "C. H." Merrill reports from Oskaloosa, lowa, that there is nothing new with him, except that he is looking for a young doctor to take over his specialized practice of eye, ear, nose and throat, as he is about ready to retire Jack Andrews' son "Chick" is a Captain of the American Airlines and lately has been doing quite a little flying with their fourengine cargo ships. "Jack" Jr. is still in Springfield, Mass. as Personnel Manager of the Western Division of the New England Telephone & Telegraph Company GeorgeSunderland, in a note to Johnnie Ward, says he is still young enough to work every day and is glad to do it, and that he is the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren. He is planning on bringing Mrs. Sunderland with him to Hanover in June, 1951, for the 50th Reunion. George has never been back in Hanover since he left college many years ago.

"Johnnie" Ward is once again in the midst of the Alumni Fund campaign, and we should all get behind him and help to keep the wonderful record 1901 has always had. Johnnie hung up a fine record last year, both in the total amount and also in the number of contributors, so let's not let him down this year.
