These notes have to be short this month, to make room for the listing of Alumni Fund contributors

Chan White, so I am told by the papers and Gran Fuller, was elected vice president of the General Aniline and Film Corporation. Chan has been with the Corporation 30 years, and has been general manager of the General Aniline Works division of the company and will continue in that capacity. .... Bill McKenzie sent me a cryptic message about young Bill's wedding late in January. John Pelletier, and possibly the Fletch Andrews and McFalls, were expected at the ringside, and the team of ushers was expected to be a Dartmouth line-up, with TugTyler's son included.

Fletch Andrews represented Dartmouth at the inauguration of President John S. Millis at Western Reserve University; he also represented the Law School of the University. He presented a scroll signed by John Dickey and Fletch, which I hope will not be found later on in the Millis attic by one of his heirs.

Burt Lowe wrote me while keeping an ear pointed towards the phone, expecting a telephone announcement of the birth of his second grandchild. It came while he was writing-Burton Richard Miller, Class of about 1972. Burt made a fast hop to the West Coast and had two visits with Dan Dinsmoor and Jean. He reports Dan wanting to come back to reunion, but doubtful on account of the distance and business pressure.

Ken Henderson wrote me of having a delightful luncheon with Carl Holmes, the Cleveland pedagogue, early in January. Carl and his family spent the Christmas holidays with their daughter Mrs. Babson at her home in Geneva. Ken says except for some grayness Carl looks the same as in Hanover and has lost none of his New England accent. After New Year's Carl and Mrs. Holmes left for the Southwest, to be gone four months —their sabbatical.

Charlie Brundage breaks into print in a big way. To begin with, he has been elected a trustee of the Union Dime Savings Bank. I don't know the difference between a union dime and any other, but probably it is invested only 35 hours a week and demands 7 percent interest. Then, the Collector of Taxes of Grafton, N. H. received a letter of appreciation from Charlie, plus a check for $25 for re-surfacing the road to his house in the woods, which he lists as one of the pleasant things which happened to him in the past year.

Jib Dingwall has been appointed my New York campaign manager in the fight for the Class secretaryship and, if I win, will naturally control patronage in that area. Jib denies Ernie Earley's report that he is an elder of the Church of the Heavenly Rest, but admits that his son Allan '42 is an Usher. A very natural error.

Jack English writes he is doing fine (all other class secretaries please note) and is enjoying everything, even walking and breathing. Jack is in a great frame of mind, from his letters, which all his million friends will be happy to know. Kay is now promoting sterling silver and should be a whiz at it Stew and Mrs. Paul, Air. and Airs. H.Anson Bates, John Ames, Miss Lila Walbaum of Valparaiso, Chile and the Wilsons had a reunion and dinner at the Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, Md., a very enjoyable event.

I hope in this issue to include a photo of Ed Graver, Mrs. Craver and various descendants and in-laws of theirs. There are an even 11 in this picture and if Tuss McLaughry can find any comfort in that he is welcome to it.

Your secretary had the thrill of his life when a song he wrote in collaboration with Mark C. Bowsher of Washington, D. C. was sung in Constitution Hall, Washington, on January 21, by the "Columbians" quartet. The song was "Diggin' Sweet Potatoes on the Eastern Shore" and everyone singing it in public will be presented with an Eastern Shore sweet potato, autographed by the composers.

WHEN ED CRAVER '16 has a reunion it is both a family and a Dartmouth affair. Three of his four sons. Perry '44, Nelson '45, and John '50, attended Dartmouth. Surrounded by his wife, sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, Ed is understandably proud. He is president of the Bates Shoe Co., and lives in Webster, Mass.
