Top news this month concerns the appointment of John Flanagan as our Class Agent. After three years of intensive work on the Alumni Fund, Bill Morton is entitled to a well-earned rest. (In each of these three years the class exceeded its dollar quota and had almost 100% participation.) Bill has agreed to serve as John's right-hand man during the 1050 campaign so we'll have a hard-hitting team in this department.

The record of the amount we gave last year and the list o£ the men of 1928 who participated in this gift are printed this month as part of our column. It's a record we're all mighty proud of, so let's give John and Bill the support they need to chalk up a similar record this year.

Gil Swanson has been elected president of C. A. Swanson & Sons Cos. of Omaha following the death of his father. Craw Pollock is now vice president of the same company, the largest poultry processing firm in the country. This information we secured from Dickand Evelyn Walker at the Alumni Council meeting in Hanover on January 20-21. Dick represents the Middlewestern states on the Council and was attending his first meeting since his election. Bill and Bobby Morton were also in Hanover for the same meeting, Bill being the new representative of the Middle Atlantic States.

Red Edgar, assistant to the president of the Boston & Maine, was reelected president of the Vermont State Railroads Association at its annual meeting recently Bill Sreenan has been made vice president of the Middlesex Federal Savings & Loan Association in Somerville, Mass. He previously was treasurer Life on Jan. 16 ran a page of pictures of Hadley Cantril, professor of psychology at Princeton, and his son. The title of the article was "Your Eyes Do Deceive ou"; the illusion which was used was devised by Prof. Adelbert Ames Jr. of Dartmouth.

Dick Brooks has been appointed assistant manager and sales manager of the Carolina Paint & Varnish Works, Greensboro, N. C. .... George Ralston ("Bud") Smith and Ginnie returned to their home in Hobe Sound, Fla., after three months in California. Be it treason or not, they said they liked it (hotel men are smooth) but they like Florida better. They saw Clark Blyth and Johnny Lyman in Los Angeles and spent an evening with Charlie Robertson, the lumberman, in Houston. Right now Bud is busy building a house on Jupiter Island and working in Palm Beach.

Jeff Glendinning is chairman of the Red Cross fund campaign in Lawrence, Mass. EdCollins sent us clippings about Jeff; seems he reads the home town newspaper although he is now teaching in" Harpursville, N. Y. Ed sees Jeff and Dick Sullivan, Lawrence Librarian, on his visits home .... MacEile now has three children—Phoebe having arrived on Christmas day. We used to consider three children a large family, but now it's just about average in '2B. Among those who have moved into the large family group fairly recently are: Ed and Esther Zey, of Mission, Texas, with four boys; Fred andIris Cheever of Norwell, Mass., with three girls and a boy; Ernie and Erwina Bessette, with two and two; and Dick and RosemaryLee, with four girls.

Ed Zey is a partner in the Mission Fruit & Vegetable Cos., and a member of the Board of Education. Fred Cheever is advertising manager of the Pepperell Manufacturing Cos. .... Chuck Bennett has a grandson Arthur Shipley, born Aug. 9 in Stamford, Conn., and wonders if he is the first '2B grandchild. JackGo.odnow, Chief Justice of the New Hampshire State Superior Court, has robbed you of that honor, Chuck, because at reunion last June he revealed that he has two grandchildren. Chuck handles food advertising for Triangle Publications, 11 West 42nd St., New York, publishers of Seventeen Magazine. DickLee is assistant to the treasurer of P. R. Mallory & Cos., Indianapolis.

Monk Davenport's son Carleton, Dartmouth '49, is now at M.1.T., and his brother Benjamin is a freshman at Colgate.... Hutch Hutcheson's son Samuel Lewis Jr. is a student at Georgia Tech..... Horace CliffordBrown's daughter Carol is at Michigan State. Brownie, incidentally, is sales manager of the Kenneth Anderson Cos., Detroit, distributors of valves and pipe fittings .... Not to be outdone by the youngsters, Attorney Bill Monaco is studying at City College of New York, brushing up on the law after four years in the Army and four more as a civilian employee of the War Department in Germany ....Rick Rickenbaugh's daughter Ann is a freshman at Smith .... Bill Rohlff's daughter Carol is at the University of Oregon. Bill sold his University Men's Shop in Eugene, Ore. and is now distribution manager of Conley's Blossom Farm in the same city.

XJpty Bartlett is in the production department of George D. Roper Corp., Rockford, 111., manufacturers of stoves and pumps Dick White, Montauk, Long Island druggist, is a member of the school board in that city. Dick has two sons.... Jack Zellers, sales manager of the Duplicator Supplies Division of Remington Rand, now has his office at 315 Fourth Ave., New York. Daughter Sally is at Bradford School and Margaret is at Kendall Hall ....Al Kitts, after being married 15 years, welcomed his first child on Sept. 14, 1949; he was named A. Warren Kitts Jr. Al is a pediatrician in Salisbury, Md.

Attorney Tom Talbot has returned to Philadelphia and the insurance game—he is with the General Accident Fire & Life Assurance Corp., Ltd Walt McKee, until recently flitting about Europe for Ford International, is now in the New York office at 445 Park Avenue .... Van Curll is the new sales manager of Homer T. Seale, Inc., Los Angeles manufacturers ot air brake equipment for trucks Ralph Church has been made a partner of the Des Moines law firm of Henry & Henry; he is also counsel for the Equitable Life Insurance Cos. of 10wa.... The Saturday Evening Post of Jan. 28 had an article on Jacob Reed's Sons of Philadelphia, "America's oldest uniform firm," which gave Dan Hatch a lot of time. He was referred to as "the jovial manager of the uniform factory." We also learned that Dan served en the staff of Gen. E. H. Molthan in the Pacific and then went into business with him; the General is chairman of the Board.

Clark Harrington, director of the Music Copyright Department of the Columbia Broadcasting System, spent a two-week vacation in South Carolina—writing songs.
