This is the month when class news must be kept to a minimum because of demands of space for the Alumni Fund campaign; as a matter of fact this circumstance is a relatively fortunate one for this department, since the news, like the snow, only trickled in during January. Let's hope that letters will cover the ground during the next four weeks.

Bill "Wimpy" Lyle writes on the usual Nashua Gummed and Coated Paper that there is going to be a class dinner at the Dartmouth Club of New York on Thursday 23 March. All the faithful please note and the unfaithful consider. Lyle reports having had dinner at Reeve's house recently, a small affair in honor of Johnny Johnson, "now enroute back to Accra, Gold Coast Africa with wife and three children. He's just ending a three-month vacation most of which was spent in California."

Al Wolff reports from Milford, Conn.

"My wife Adele hit the jackpot on January 6 with a pair of twins, Mary and Fred. We certainly are enjoying them but with two other children, Nancy, age 5 and Ned, age 3, we find we have enough action to keep us busy.

"I'm Director of Counselling at the University of Bridgeport and have been for the past few years. Last October I was elected to the Board of Education in Milford; I ran as an independent."

Walt Pazdon, prominent citizen of Manchester, N. H., forwards the following information in response to one of those mimeographed jobs: "Married: Mary Ziemba Pazdon of Manchester 16 October, 1948; War Service: Anti-Aircraft Artillery ETO (First Sergeant); Previous Positions held: Walworth Cos. 1939-1940, Clerical; United Aircraft (Pratt-Whitney), 1940-1942 Clerical; Present Job: Salesman—free lance."

Bill Ganter continues his preeminence as the writer's most faithful correspondent with a whole spate of news; "Just had lunch with Chas Main, Chas Hitchcock, Dick Stoughton,Rog Buffinton and Bob Egelhoff. Bob has left Turner Construction Cos. and is now with M. P. Horan & Cos. in Boston. He is giving up his present residence and buying a house at Highlands St., Marshfield, which he thinks might be available for the Boston '3B picnic."

Bill also encloses a clipping reciting that Gus Hennessey will serve as executive secretary of the Troy, N. Y., Community" Chest. Gus is a former student of the Boston College School of Social Work.

Danny Marshall made the not-so-long trek from Beantown to Newport a couple of weeks ago and brought with him the tidings that Bob Dennen is a practising physician in Wellesley. Quite possibly this is not anything particularly new, but it's the first this column had heard of it.

"Robert P. Hallock Jr. '3B has been named Superintendent of Agencies, Western Division of the Massachusetts Protective Association, Inc., and the Paul Revere Life Insurance Cos. of Worcester, Mass. Prior to his promotion he had served the companies as field supervisor, group department"—publicity release of said Association.

From our indefatigable Class Treasurer (it took him about nine months to send me a check for some class expenses; so you cansee the Treasury is in good hands):

"Bud Walls writes that he is moving to New York City this month—'hates to leave L.A. but the opportunity was too good to turn down.' Still Connecticut Mutual, I believe. Art van Kirk has switched from Des Moines to Omaha and had a long letter from Fred Wagner who is back in Milwaukee selling with the E. R. Wagner Manufacturing Cos. Fred still has his famous farm at Lyme and continues batching it.

"Sandy Mills was in town last month—tried to invite him to lunch (on class funds?), but the room clerk at the Athletic Club couldn't get him out of the sack at 11:45 a.m. Bob Hennick reports from Springfield that his new heiress, Marcia Phillips, is doing fine at the ripe old age of five weeks, and from Newtonville comes word that Lt.Don Clarke is in Alaska, with the Army Weather Dept. Gene Waggaman paid his class dues even after he got married, so I guess Pedlar & Ryan is treating him O.K. Ed Belknap is moving to Terre Haute, Ind. to manage a new bus depot for Indianapolis Speedway owner Tony Hulman. And the only good thing to report on Roscoe Borneman is that he looks fairly sober on the current family Christmas card."

McMurtrie also coyly admits to expecting No. 3 in the near future, "We'll have to move to the YMCA if this keeps up."

The University of Minnesota News Service sends along the welcome dope that DwightParkinson received the degree of master of science in Neurosurgery from the University on 15 Dec. 49.

Just to make the editors happy, this column will close at this point, leaving a few odds and ends for next time, just in case. An impending visit to the Big City promises at least some news from that overly modest section, but otherwise the news situation is slightly fluid.
