The celebration of Dartmouth Night was combined with a business meeting on October 19 at the Navy Officers' Club, Naval Air Station, Atlanta. The delicious turkey dinner was followed by the annual report meeting and reelection of the following officers: President, John O'Brion '32; Vice-Presidents, CharlesAlt man '24 and Alva Wilson '25; SecretaryTreasurer, Louis Fortuna '38.
The secretary summarized the activities of the past year, and particularly reported on the recruiting work done by Bill Marsh '31 and the Secretary. The Atlanta high schools conduct a College Day program each year, and representatives of the various colleges are invited to participate by addressing classes of juniors and seniors who are interested in going to college. Dartmouth College was represented at three high schools to date. Following this discussion, a committee was appointed by the President to continue the developmental work in recruitment of prospective Dartmouth College freshmen. This committee includes Winthrop Snow '14, chairman; BillMarsh '31, Alva Wilson '25, Graham Conklin '43, Louis Fortuna '38, and Al Starrett '29.
The following regular and new members attended with their wives—each to his own: Charles B. Altman '24, Graham Conklin '43, Roger Dudis '39, Bill Marsh '31, Al Starrett '29, Win Snow '14, Carlton Evans '48, WalterFloyd '14, Alva Wilson '25, Ted Walter '46, Dave Dorwood '12 and daughter, Barbara, Dick Everett '40, and Jack O'Brion '32. The stags were Dick Exton '29 and Jim Pettit 46. College movies showing Carnival scenes and three football games of the 1950 season followed the meeting.
Dr. Paul Guilfoil '39 is currently hospitalized with a lung ailment, but is reported to be progressing satisfactorily. The Secretary is glad to report that he represented Dartmouth College at the installation of the new president of Agnes Scott College for Women, Decatur, Georgia, on October 24.
