Spring is in the air! Buds on the long-bare branches of winter signal the season of warm weather, green leaves, daffodils, and the onslaught of wedding announcements. I received a note from Katie Stearns brimming with news of '82 weddings and engagements. On May 27, Katie will be married to J.B.Friday. After the wedding the couple is planning to spend the summer in Puerto Rico with a Yale Forestry School program. Not a bad honeymoon! In her note, Katie included news of other '82s planning 1984 weddings: Ken Fox and Kate McKee will be wed this summer, as will Doug Tengdin and Pam Bowers (Brown '82).

I've heard of a few other recent marriages and engagements: Already wed is DarrenCde Baca, who Was married in January and honeymooned in Hawaii. Sarah Riddle recently announced her plans'to marry. Sarah has been working out in California as a church youth group leader and her future husband is an engineer with Tandem Computer. August will be the month for at least two of our classmates' weddings. JennyChandler will be married to Stephen Hauge (Williams '73) on August 12 in her hometown of Princeton, N.J. They are planning a honeymoon in Wyoming after which they will return to New York City, where Stephen is teaching at a private school and where Jenny will finish her law schooling. Also in August will be Dan Gaulin's marriage to a Mt.Holyoke '82. Dan has been at the University of North Carolina studying for his master's degree in city planning. Best wishes for so much happiness to all of you!

Can you guess what profession seems to be the one that most '82s are involved in? Certainly in the running for this illustrious position is the legal profession. Alex Blumrosen and Kris Johnson are obtaining their J.D.'s from George Washington University Law School, Jim McKenzie and Andy Gaillard are at UPenn Law, Rob Carroll is in his second year at Duke Law, Amy Lederer is at UConn Law, Norman Bay is chasing the paper at Harvard Law School, and representing us out west are John "Noodles" Moscarino at UCLA Law School and Dave Conard at University of Colorado at Boulder Law. Contributing to the legal system are Nancy Bowler and Tami Colvin. Nancy is a paralegal at Surrey and Morse in Washington, D.C., and Tami is a legal assistant at Cravath, Swaine and Moore in New York. Deb Kay is presently a systems analyst with Control Data, but plans to attend law school within the next few years. Also planning to enter the world of barristering is Tom French. Frenchie was last seen on the island of Santorini, Greece, in October. It was at this time that he said that he planned to continue sailing the seas as cruise director on the Stellar Polaris until August 1984, and then he hoped to go to law school.

But of course our classmates are involved in a multitude of professions, careers, and schoolings. Corey Filler is living outside Los Angeles marketing a software package called the Apollo System for a computer firm. SueLibenson is working for the Audubon Society. And Karen Jones is employed by the Ipco Corporation and has hopes of getting into their marketing/advertising program. Catherine Smith Sherry is a financial analyst in the international department of Citibank in New York. Also in the Big City are Danny Goldin, who is working for Warner Communications, Rich Papert, who is now teaching part of the training course at the Chase Manhattan Corporation, and Laura Murray, who splits her time between New York City and Rochester, N.Y., where Arthur Andersen is sending her to consult for Cybron. Meg Singer recently joined the Goldman Sachs team in the Big Apple. Meg was the only non M.B.A. hired into the bond trading and sales program. Her apartment-mate, Kristin Farrish, is working for Gannett Newspapers in the advertising department. Kristin is helping to coordinate their nationwide advertising division. Up in Boston, Pat Viguerie is a computer consultant with Casher Associates. Out in California, Geoff Ralston is an employee of Hewlett Packard. Moving eastward, John Hastings is studying in the geology master's program at Texas A&M, while Paula Dugan is working toward her degree in architecture at the University of Virginia. Also at UVA, but in the Medical School, are Bill Crenshaw and TomNorris. Other physicians-to-be include Chuck Cairns at UNC Med School at Chapel Hill, Carol Rauch at Johns Hopkins Medical School, and Dennard Ellis and Jon Root, who are both at the University of Florida Med School. Dennard spent this past summer performing research in cardiovascular surgery and will begin rotations soon.

Thanks to all of you who have written to let me know what you and others of our classmates are doing. Keep those letters coming! Em.
