The Long Island alumni gathered at Hofstra College's Calkins Gym (Hempstead) on February 23 to cheer Doggy Julian's hapless hoopsters in the second annual Dartmouth-Hofstra court contest sponsored by the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Long Island.

The Big Green, fresh from their win over Harvard, started off as though they were going to control the game. They did that pretty well through the first half, except that the home club made good on its infrequent scoring opportunities while the Indians seemed stymied by what appeared to be a basket with a large rim and a small hole.

After the intermission Bill Biggs began to find the range with his push shots, but the Dutchmen came along with improved floorwork while continuing to hit with set shots and layups. The Dartmouth rooters had a little more opportunity for cheering, but it soon became apparent that the boys from Hanover couldn't overtake the home forces. Final score Hofstra 67, Dartmouth 47.

The poor Indian season record kept the alumni turnout from setting any records, but the old guard was on hand to cheer loudly, if in vain. Ed Warnke and his committee again came through with sufficient program ad sales to assure a healthy dollar addition to the Scholarship Fund, so we'll again be able to send a contribution to Hanover for scholarship purposes.

April 14 (a Saturday, and mark your calendar) is alumni reunion day on Long Island. A double header sports attraction is scheduled to highlight the festivities—Dartmouth-Hofstra baseball and lacrosse games at Hofstra Field (Hempstead). A warm, clear day should uncover a bumper crop of old timers to welcome Eddie Jeremiah's and Tommy Dent's charges. The Lacrosse squad is now a regular visitor to this area, but it will be the first visit for the Diamond boys. These games are also sponsored by the L.I. Alumni Association, with proceeds going to the Scholarship Fund. Bring the wife and kids, round up your classmates, fraternity brothers and neighbors. Come on over and get that feeling of Memorial Field in spring.

Meanwhile, the Executive Committee had its regular monthly meeting on March 7 at Ort Hicks '21. The genial host and Alumni Council member showed the new Dartmouth movie, My First Two Weeks in Hanover. The movie committee certainly merits a few loud Wah-Hoo-Wahs for this job, and every alumni group should try to get this shown in as many secondary schools as possible, as well as before parent groups.

WITH PRESIDENT DICKEY ATTENDING AS GUEST OF HONOR, the Denver alumni admissions committee entertained hopeful future Dartmouth men on January 27.
