The most important event in the history of our Club took place on April 5 when we were honored with a visit from President Dickey. He arrived early in the morning and put in a rather full day before leaving for Miami that night for the next leg of an arduous southern trip. After an interview with the local press, he was given a tour of our famous Jacksonville beaches. Following lunch at Ponte Vedra Inn, he returned to town and an interview with the editors of the local high school papers, a novel idea suggested by Al Balboni, and one which met with President Dickey's wholehearted approval.

The Club's dinner for President Dickey was held at the George Washington Hotel and was attended by 36 loyal alumni, wives., and friends. Members present with their wives were Dr. Tom Field '07, Norm Sterling '16,I. M. Sulzbacher '34, Al Seitner '34, FrancisL'Engle '40, Paul Wessells '40, and Art Spoeneman '41. Others included Professor J. A.Brown '02, Francis Poor '15, Al Balboni '39, and Ernest Friez '42. Alumni with us from other parts of the country were Carlton Broer '27 from Toledo, Ohio, and Lt. M. E. Hagen '44, recently recalled to active duty at "the Jacksonville Naval Air Station, from Syracuse, N. Y., with Mrs. Hagen. Our two undergraduates, Lawrence Howard Jr. '51 and Jimmy Howard '53, home on a spring vacation, were present with their father, and one prospective member for the Class of 1957, Paul Oberdorfer, attended with his parents. Representatives of the local high schools completed the guest list.

Professor Brown, head of our Club, served as our genial toastmaster. After cocktails and dinner, our program was opened with a few moments of silence in memory of LeRoyJohnson '15, who passed away suddenly on March 25. LeRoy was one of the founders and first president of our Club and will he greatly missed by all of us, as well as the entire community in which he played such an active part.

Dr. Field introduced our honored guest. President Dickey gave a wonderful and inspiring talk, completely and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone present. We closed with Men of Dartmouth, ably led by Paul Wessells.

All of us hope that President Dickey got sufficient Florida sand in his shoes to return to us very, very soon.
