On January 30 the Dartmouth Club of Jacksonville was honored with the visit of a distinguished member of the faculty, Dr. Arthur M. Wilson, Professor of Biography and Government. To celebrate the occasion we had a dinner meeting at the George Washington Hotel. Alumni present were: Prof. J. A. Brown '02, Dr. Tom Field '07, A. LeRoy Johnson '15, Al Seitner '34, I. M. Sulzbacher '34, Francis P. L'Engle Jr. '40, Paiil Wessells '40, Art Spoeneman '41, John Lee Jr. '47, Norm Sterling '16, William Baxter '38, and Nelson O'Rourke '27 who drove up from Daytona Beach, bringing as his guest Archie Morrison, Cornell '32. Guests at this first dinner meeting were wives and friends of the Alumni, Major DeWitt E. Hooker, Superintendent of The Bolles School, and Mrs. Hooker, and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Howard, parents of Lawrence Howard Jr. '51 and Jim Howard '53.
After cocktails and dinner our program opened with short speeches by LeRoy Johnson and Tom Field, and two excellent sound movies from the college, Hanover—1947 and Dartmouth Days.
Dr. Wilson was the main speaker of the evening and brought us up to date on the latest developments at the College. We all enjoyed his talk tremendously and hope that the College will soon again favor us with another such interesting speaker.
After the meeting the alumni and guests were entertained by LeRoy Johnson in the Dartmouth Room of his home. Rumor has it that the festivities continued into the early hours of the morning.
We are still having our weekly luncheons every Friday at 1:00 P.M. at the Seminole Hotel. During the Christmas holidays the Howard boys were our guests. Out-of-town visitors are always welcome.
