Last call for reunion! If you haven't made plans yet, do it today. The plans for the weekend sound great, and many '74s will be returning to the Hanover Plain for the fabulous weekend, June 15-17. Activities will include Glee Club concerts, a WDCR oldies broadcast from the '74 tent, a reunion run, a band at one of the fraternity houses, plus optional computer courses and trips to Mt. Moosilauke. There will also be plenty of time to get together informally with classmates and renew old acquaintances or make new ones. (Don't forget, the classes of '73 and '75 will hold their reunions at the same time!) We may even find time to tap a keg of brew or two, if such things can still be found in Hanover. So, if you haven't done so already, make your reservations "fast, fast, FAST" and join us at the reunion.
The Alumni Fund progresses well, with nearly $70K in '74 pledges and gifts in hand as I write this. We are well along towards our reunion goal of $107,074 but will need to make an all-out effort to reach this target prior to reunion. There will be several telethons held in May and June in order to follow up with those classmates who remain unmoved by all the mail from Hanover. (Ah, what's a day without a letter from Dartmouth?) Seriously, please consider giving early and generously this year, and I know that we will easily make our dollar goal and top our all-time class participation record of 74 percent.
Unfortunately, the old mailbox is on the blink again, refusing to do any more than spew forth bills and junk mail, with the occasional missive from the College for relief. As a result, I have no news of any form in hand at the moment. Before the deadline for the June column, I will put on my Alumni Fund hat and call classmates for both news and dinero. Look to next month's column for more '74 news.
One final note - the reunion activities include the selection of the '74 executive committee. This group will select class officers and effectively run our activities through the 15th reunion. Serving on the committee offers an excellent opportunity to serve both the class and the College. If you would like to become more involved (and I can recommend the job of class secretary very highly), please contact Steve Severson, nominating committee chairman, or me. Our class is already very strong and active. With the able help of many classmates, we can build on this strong record.
See you at reunion!
