The College Glee Club's St. Louis Concert came off as per schedule on April 6, and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone—even a perspiring Committee. As always it was a great lift to have contact with such a fine group of boys, and Director Paul Zeller gave us an out- standing program. The featured singers, especially the "Injunaires", were all topnotch and our Club seems individually and collectively proud of the job the Glee Club did in recommending Dartmouth to the St. Louis public. The dance, after the concert, was swell and the trend amongst the younger folks toward dancing barefoot was noted with interest and amazement.
Marty Kerwin '33 has successfully completed a moving job and now has his family established deep in the heart of Webster Groves, Mo.
The St. Louis Club held a Smoker on April 23 at the home of Boyd Rogers '35. Considerable business transpired, including appointment of a nominating committee (Marty Kerwin '33, Chairman, Landon Martin '41, and Harry Deckert '35), and a picnic committee (Bill Rench '34, Chairman, Ernie Grinnell '42). We hope to hold our Picnic early in June this year, and a Golf Day is planned for late in May. Present at the April 23 Smoker: Ernie Curtis '36, Lee Turner '04, Dave Biggs '42, Norm Scott '35, Marty Kerwin '33, Bob Turner '33, Walt Ross '37, Boyd Rogers '35, Ernie Grinnell '42, Carl Holekamp '42, Bill Rench '34, Jimmy Jones '38, Harry Deckert '35, Joe Logan '42, and Jack Merrill '30x.
Phil Eckels '34, of Atchison, Kansas, was with us at Thursday luncheon, April 26, and we had most of the Dartmouth undergrads present on April 12, including Mead Metcalf '51, Ross Tucker '54, John Fairfield '50, Ray Wolff '54, Carlos Harrison '53, and Stephen Wolff '54.
One very special feature of the Glee Club Concert at St. Louis was the rendition of a group of songs by Frank Logan '52. Not only were the songs exceptionally well received, but the crowd got an added bang out of the fact that Mr. and Mrs. Logan, Frank's parents, had come in for the concert and were present with Frank's brother, Joe Logan '42, prominent member of the St. Louis Alumni Club. We understand that it was the first time Mr. and Mrs. Logan had heard their son's music featured.
As a footnote to, the Glee Club visit, and for the benefit the data might offer some other alumni group, our expenses were approximately $1200, our gross approximately $1600, the profit going into the St. Louis Club's Clark Schmidt Memorial Scholarship Fund. Our treasurer, Ernie Curtis, has figures on the financing and will be glad to pass them on to anyone in any of the other alumni clubs who might want to bring the Glee Club in.
