Labor Day, the end of another summer and the deadline for the October issue all seem to tumble in together. We hope you have all had a fine summer and are glad to be back with the '39 gang for a few minutes each month. Nothing like the Love, Romance and Adventures of a bunch of guys now 13 years away from those well-remembered college days. For those of you who have contributed news and letters during the summer, our appreciation.
First off a little comment on the swell job done by Jack Vincens and his assistants on the Alumni Fund drive. You've had the details of how we made out via the Newsletter, but to all of you that got in and pitched, many thanks. The record shows the improvement. We still have too many that are not pulling their weight, and this lets down a lot of guys that made a very special effort in this campaign, but another chance will come next year.
The big news for the class this year seems to have been a well-kept secret, but the cat is out of the bag. You may not think you are old enough, but nevertheless '39 reunes next June for the big Fifteenth. The classes of '37 and '38 will be with us and the exact dates will be June 19, 20 and 21. Plans and details still have to be worked out, but you'll be kept informed. It will be a good one and you had better plan now to be there.

A very welcome letter from Jim Brenner, in the Deep South of Macon, Ga. Jim is busily engaged in the work of the Macon Junior Chamber of Commerce of which he is president, his Cub Scout Pack of 56 boys, and an army reserve unit that is taking two weeks of his time in August. Maybe Jim works for pay somewhere, too, but it's not mentioned. Just an incidental, I guess.
