That is a mighty attractive and useful class register that Carroll Dzuight prepared for us during the summer. You will observe that the booklet came to you with no increase in the amount of annual dues, proving Carroll a good treasurer with or without his appendix. From time to time this column will carry address changes by means of which you may keep the booklet up to date.
On page 63 of the August 25 issue of Time there is a very interesting write-up of PeterKiewit under the caption "The Master Builder." It stems from the recent award to Pete, partly because he was the only one considered to have enough equipment and men to start the job immediately, of the contract to build the billion dollar uranium plant in southern Ohio for the Atomic Energy Commission. As a single construction contract this is the second largest ever awarded. The success of Peter Kiewit Sons' Co. under Pete's guidance has been phenomenal.
Carter and Allie Hoyt are the proud grandparents of Stephen Hoyt Baker who was born in September. They lost no time getting down to Alexandria, Va., to see the boy after news of his arrival.
The Tom Lends, the Ozzy Siegfrieds, the Ed Sharps and Bud Winkler were Hanover Inn guests in late August and September.
Many of you may have seen and heard Will Nicholson on television during the Republican convention. He was a delegate from Colorado and served on the important credentials committee. Will is out of the Army and once more engaged in the real estate business in Denver.
Phil and Betty Kimball drove up from Beckley, W. Va., for a visit in these parts, timing their trip to coincide with the early part of the football season. With Bob and AlmaHight, they drove to Hanover for the Holy Cross game.
Clif Watson has taken a prominent part in the organization of the Charlotte (N. C.) Textile Club, the purpose of which is to promote programs and activities related to the textile trade.
With another veteran insurance man, Robert A. Baldwin Jr. has organized a new insurance agency in Springfield, Campbell & Baldwin, Inc. Bob will still continue the agency, Welch & Baldwin, Inc., with which he has been associated since 1927 and of which he has been sole owner since 1929.
Robert M. Dewey recently was elected executive vice president of Ernest W. Brown Inc., the organization with which he has been connected since he ventured forth from Thayer School in 1923. His new office places him in charge of Associated Reciprocal Exchanges activities. As head of the new business department during the past four years, Bob has traveled extensively and assumes his new duties with a broad acquaintanceship with A. R. E. subscribers from coast to coast.
Jib Sawyer enjoyed real success as a fisherman on a trip to Florida. He landed two white marlin and two sailfish. Luck deserted him on the way home, however, when an automobile crash hospitalized him for two weeks in Louisville. Fortunately, a crease across his forehead was the extent of his injury, probably accompanied by sundry bruises.
