Following the fishing trip, described in the adjacent columns, the next big event for Dartmouth of Southern California was Dartmouth Night. Held October 17, meeting took place in the New York Room of Los Angeles' spanking new Statler Hotel. Dartmouth men were treated to a special pre-preview look since room was not open to the general public at the time.

More than 100 members listened to the traditional greeting from the College. Speaker for the evening was one o£ Dartmouth's top sons, Carl Spaeth '29, formerly U.S. State Department, Ex-Dean of Stanford Law School, now an executive director of the Ford Foundation. The meeting was wonderful, the speech was swell. And after the greeting everyone went home secure in the knowledge that Dartmouth was continuing as always progressive, but with the traditional one spirit.
