I'm sure many of you had memories renewed when reading that fine story of John Sloan Dickey's presidency in the winter issue of this magazine so timely, too, just before his death after a long illness.

Looking back in time reminded me to wonder who is still living in the hometown they had while attending Dartmouth 57 years ago. Comparing the 1934 Aegis, and for nongraduates the 1934 Freshman Green Book, with our current 1934 Directory, here are classmates that still live in the same community. (You can supply the states!)

I find Andy Donaldson still in Cincinnati, Bill Judd in New Britain, Bill Ramsey in Omaha, Stan Neill in Winchester, Art Ward in Worcester, Sam McCray and Bob Corwin in Dayton, Bob Newman in Pittsfield, Henry Martorano in Ansonia, Bob Morris and Leon Lindheim in Cleveland, PaulEbbitt in Newport, Jerry Danzig, HenryWerner, and Henry Necarsulmer in Manhattan, Ben Rippe in Brooklyn, DaveMitchell in Natick, Ike and Sam Fishman in Maiden, Eck Jones in Kirkwood, RandyKlinefelter in Ephrata, Dr. Bob Smith in Winchester, Perkins Bass in Peterboro, JohnMurphy in W. Hartford, and JohnHallenbeck in Dunkirk.

Some are close by, and probably feel they should be considered hometowners, like BillRench in Clayton from St. Louis, Bill Reid in South Boston from W. Roxbury, Bob King in Winnetka from Wilmette, and Sig Stern in Eastchester from New Rochelle. JohnAnderson is another who is close by, shifting from one Heights (Shaker) to another (Cleveland) and always giving height to his many activities. His personal story is covered in his new widely-lauded book, Always in Love.

Our prexy, Jack Tobin, may wonder how I missed listing him. He's back at his Rhode Island hometown, but I well recall that he spent his pediatrician years in Minneapolis. If I missed listing you, let me know. I'll have the thrill of knowing you read my column, and in later update your classmates will have memories verified.

One of the above natives, Jerry Danzig, joined me in watching the St. John's Georgetown game at Madison Square Garden. The old radio/television kingpin still keeps an active interest in the Big City scene.

Put the '34 mini-reunion on your calendar. It will be on September 27-28, the weekend of the Bucknell game.
