An able committee headed by OctavioHecht '24, club president, arranged a Christmas luncheon which set new records for the Dartmouth Club of Toledo. No less than 72 men attended, including 17 prospective students and several fathers. Sam Carson '34, chairman of the Interviewing Committee, reports that interest in Dartmouth has reached a new high in the Toledo area.
The Toledo Scholarship Fund, which was started about two years ago by Stan Mauk 'l19, is now under the direction of Glenn Fitkin Sr., father of Hal Fitkin '50 and GlennFitkin Jr. '50. Progress has been so encouraging that we are already talking of the day when it will be possible to sponsor several outstanding men at Dartmouth each year. We are all proud of the unique record of Mr. Fitkin's new Parents Committee, which last year raised more than $28,000 for the Alumni Fund through letters to non-Dartmouth parents of undergraduates and recent graduates.
The color film, My First Week at Dartmouth, was borrowed from the College and proved to be just what we needed for the prospective freshmen. In fact, it made a hit with the old-timers too. The "B & M Square Wheeler" may now have a modern diesel locomotive, as the movie proved, but the feelings of a pea-green freshman are still pretty much the same.
Word has just been received that George H.Colton '35, Executive Secretary of the Dartmouth Development Council, will be in Toledo for a meeting on April 9. This will be an outstanding event and we are delighted to have him come.
New officers just elected for the year 1952 are: Frank W. Parmelee '34, president; Richard D. Heydt '25, vice-president; William F.Broer Jr. '41, treasurer; and Ted Harbaugh '35, secretary.
