Dick Heydt '25, newly elected president of the Toledo alumni, with the assistance of Dick Foote '28 arranged a dinner meeting Friday, March 6, in honor of Justin A. Stanley. Mr. Stanley explained his duties as Vice President of the College and emphasized his desire to help maintain a free interchange of ideas between alumni and the administration in Hanover. The discussion was informal and everybody relaxed in the cordial Dartmouth atmosphere. Our sincere thanks to Mr. Stanley for coming!
As usual, the Christmas luncheon was attended by a capacity crowd and a likely group of about a dozen candidates for admission joined the alumni in seeing two excellent Dartmouth movies. Frank Parmelee '34 of the interviewing committee now reports that the men actually interviewed so far represent some of the top students in the city schools and that several of them are outstanding athletes as well which warms the heart of any alumnus.
Stan Mauk '19 reports more than $1,000 contributed to the Dartmouth Scholarship Fund of Toledo in this year's campaign, bringing the principal sum to a point where we can authorize the College to start using the income. The idea of course is to help boys who can meet the rigid requirements of admission but could not afford to go to Dartmouth without assistance. We are proud of the fund because it is considerably larger than the average for cities the size of Toledo.
NEW HAMPSHIRE GUESTS: President Dickey was the main speaker at the Washington, D. C., Dartmouth Club's annual dinner meeting held at the National Press Club, March 5. With him are N. H. Senator Charles W. Tobey '29h (I) and F. Lowell Haas '35, retiring Club president.
