The Big Four-O just hit Lou Ann and me upside the head as we celebrated our coming of age last weekend with friends from around the country. Needless to say, there were many of the Green Persuasion in attendance, including classmates Jim Bildner and David Wendell, along with Eric Edmondson '77, Alison Embree '76, '74s Owen Williams and Doug Lind, and Jon Low '73. Great time and great friends.

Cate and Rick Waddell sent the following note to Tres Jeff Sassorossi: "I have been holding on to this for two months thinking I would have time to write. California has been a major adjustment for all of us. We moved to Los Angeles shortly before the riots. We miss Chicago and hope to be back there in a few years. Rick is SVP of Northern Trust of California. We are taking some great family trips, most recently to Alisal Ranch north of Santa Barbara. Visiting the ranch at the same time was classmate Mike Paplow along with his wife, Chris, and 45-week-old baby! Last month we spent a day in Palm Desert with Joe Durham, who was there for a medical convention. He is back in Chicago with his wife, Marianne, and their three children. Our boys are ten and seven, playing lots of baseball and hockey."

Also thanks to Sassy, we have word from Greg Shenstone: "I continue to enjoy suburban Boston life with my wife, Barbara, and children Amelia 7-1/2 and Andrew 5. My employment as a consulting engineer has so far weathered the recession, but the construction industry has not yet recovered. Where are all you venture capitalists hiding?"

Lots of folks trying to avoid becoming a dread MIA. Joseph Yastrow writes, "I just finished reading our Class Notes in the April Alumni Mag. How depressing! We haven't reached our 20th Reunion yet, and we can't even find our Johnsons." We did find one Johnson, however. Kent (please don't say "Kenneth") Johnson responded to The Call with the following: "I am aghast to see that the subset of 'Johnson' has, count 'em, SIX MIAs among the class of 1975. I shall do my part to chop that number to five. I have been in San Diego the last six ears. The last year I've been working for a biotech company where I am in charge of accounting, administration, management informational services, humanresources, and taking out the garbage. We've grown from 45 employees to the current 80. We are unlike other biotechs in that we actually have sales, actually have profits, actually don't need venture-capital money (my Latin teacher would want me to say mirabile dictu at this point). Prior to putting my boat in the fast stream of biotech I was trying to get a fragrance company off the ground, which I am stubbornly continuing to do late at night and on Sundays."

From John Gile: "Awright, awready! I'm not on the AHA list henceforth. Celebrated my 40th last May with a golfing trip to Scotland, dragging along some fellow Dartmouth alums for a mystical experience atop Turnberry at sunset with bagpipes and a pint. Capped off the year with the arrival of our fourth child after three girls, our son John David... Our foursome is complete! Am enjoying sales as southeast account director for Actmedia, specialists in in-store advertising and promotion. Sue and I are most happy in Adanta (13 years!), except she's insisting we both run in the Peachtree Road Race this year. I think I'll babysit."

The following MIAs should be so respon- sive: Edward BellGordon CaldwellThomas CaldwellJohn H. ReynoldsSteven BellSherman CaldwellJack S. ReynoldsRichard Yurko Merry, Merry Sparrow! Under leaves so green A happy Blossom sees you swift as arrow Seekyour cradle narrow near my Bosom.
