Our Classmate Joel Harley writes me that he has made up his mind to become a permanent citizen of Winter Park, Fla. He intends to sell his home in Madison, Wis., as soon as possible. He feels that the state of his health demands such action.
I recently received from him a modern version of the 23rd Psalm, which is Anonymous. It is as follows:
The Government is my Shepherd, I shall not work It allows me lie down on ray good job It leadeth me beside the still factories It destroyeth my initiative It leadeth me in the paths of the parasite for politic's sake.
Yes, though I walk through the valley of laziness and definite spending I shall fear no evil For the Government is with me. Its doles and its vote-getters They comfort me. It prepareth an economic Utopia for me by appropriating the earnings of my grandchildren It filleth my head with bologna My inefficiency runneth over. Surely the Government shall care for me All the days of my life, and I shall dwell in a Fool's Paradise forever.
The Annual meeting of Class Officers is to be held on Friday and Saturday, May 2 and 3. Last year I was unable to attend this annual getting together on account of being a patient at Dick Hall's House. But I could and did enjoy the Dartmouth men who came to commiserate with me while attending the official gathering of 1951.
Sliver Rice, our Class Agent, will be in attendance and I suspect Fred Cleaveland and Charles Holden will also be on hand.
On May 2 and 3, I shall probably be in conference with Iroquois Indian Chiefs in Canada discussing matters of much importance to the tribe. This will bring back the days of Eleazar Wheelock with his Bible and his drum and his five hundred gallons of New England rum.
