If this sparkling (?) gem (?) of literature (?) seems briefer than usual this month, leave us explain that by the time you read it we will be one of the big sticks Uncle is carrying in the Med, having departed in September to participate in the NATO Operation

"MARINER." Since you John Citizens will know more about that from the press releases than we do now, we'll skip any flag-waving descriptions.

First on the list of unreported nuptials is the John Krick-Frances Ann Somerville affair that took place July 3 in New Haven. Fran is a 1952 Smith grad on the faculty of the Fair Haven Junior High School, and John finished up Columbia Law in June.

A pair of Injuns bit the dust the following week out where Horace Greeley admonished young gents to go. In Minneapolis George Duffy met Val Dean Nearpass at the altar July 11 to exchange vows. Included in the traffic control department were John Truscott and Lt. Frank Harrington USAF, as well as the scribe of our next younger brethren, DaveLeslie. No telling how many other Minnegophers were on hand. Val attended Wells College and garnered a sheepskin from Minnesota U.

'Way out thar Lucile Winifred Mclntyre and George Frederick Jewett were married in Tacoma, Wash., the same day. Lucile attended the College of Puget Sound and Fritz won his biz degree from Hah-vud a year ago.

Strictly by dint of grapevine reports, namely an item about relatives having attended the ceremony, we learned that Clint Mauk and Cornelia Lathrop had tied the knot in Perrysburg, Ohio, sometime around the end of July, but amplifying data is non-existent so far. How about the rest of the picture, Clint?

Ah, Paree! Natch it's a real love nest, so knowing that Earle Putnam was at L'Institut d'Etudes Politiques there last year and back in la Belle France now as a French linguist for the Army, you'll not be surprised to learn that he met Margaret Anne Reed a twelvemonth ago and wed in late August. Maggie attended' Stephens College in Missouri and Washington University, same state.

Scheduled for the end of November is the marriage of Jack Avery and Joan Susan Keltner of Akron, Ohio, and Ohio State University. Patrons of Capital Airlines out of Detroit may have had the pleasure of having her as hostess on one of that company's airplanes. Jack's now associated with the Avery Products Co. in Cleveland.

On August 14 in Scarsdale Bill H. Miller's enageraent was announced to Ruth Ann Cravin. Bill went to work for Westinghouse last year after receiving his Master's from Thayer School.

A few days later, Henry Barnes' wooing of Susan Thistle Coolidge in Norwalk, Conn., paid off. Besides Bryn Mawr, Susie also went to the Hartford School of Nursing. Hank reluctantly bid adieu to the Army and has been working with the Fram Corp. in Pawtucket, R. I.

Finally, the big day for Bob Waterman and Catherine Mary Arp of Moline, III., was September 5. Bob reported that he and Kitty, a Sweet Briar product, will set up house in Bettendorf, la., where he has passed the lowa bar exams and joined the Lane and Waterman law firm in Davenport. On hand to usher were stalwarts John MacDonald,Bob Kilmarx and Jack Harned. At least one other classmate, Herb Ray, was also there.

Congratulations to all the newlyweds!

INFANT INFO

While the info on this infant is almost infinitesimal, we're sure many of you will be interested to note that Rick and Eileen Miller have a Rickie Junior in their wigwam, a resident since early August. When we last saw Eric, we learned that the Marines had ordered him to take a physical exam for captain, but fortunately there were no active duty directives to go along with it and he's still toting figgers in that New York CPA house.

Another one of those guys starting law practice after graduating from the Columbia course in same is Bill Broadbent, who is now cozily ensconced in the book shelves of Cox and Wohlberg in Newark, N. J.... Also in the professions is Jim Laing, teaching in Hamilton, N. Y..... Making pretty music in Buffalo is Nels Graves who is playing up the scales at Wood & Brooks Co., having been promoted from sales manager to veep in charge thereof. By the way, he s also a member of the executive committee of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Western New York.... And Paul Rouillard is upholding the high standards in the eastern section of the Empire State with his recent promotion to special agent with the Glens Falls Group of Insurance Companies.

Over the summer postcards arrived from ex-gyrene Pete Bucklin and Brooks Boyce, released by the Ni-vee to inactive duty in July, saying they were guzzling dimeys in Acapulco, Mexico, and another from BobMisey taking time off in Dallas.... Also learned that Matt and Jean Cooney were due back from a year at the University of Edinburgh in July.... Jim Burnham is connected with the business management end of Time-Life International, Paris branch.... And to complete the globe trotters' division, Harry Melone took the position of third secretary in the American consulate (embassy? legation? dope ring?) in Teheran, Iran.

Only clue on Mac Grant these days is his lieutenancy with the 44.9 th Fighter Intercep- tor Squadron. A fuller story is available, however, on another fly-boy, Tom Fritsch. Tom has reported to the Naval Air Missile Test Center at Great Lakes, III., following a tour at Chincoteague, Va. He entered flight training in July 1 and was commissioned in 1950 while stationed with Patrol Squadron 7 at Quonset Point, R. I.

Bob Gray is a salesman at Lofstedt's, Inc., in Worcester, a furniture and interior deco- rating concern, and living in Leicester, Mass. Pete Holmes lists his vocation as mechanical development engineer with the Solon Manufacturing Co., Solon. O.... Bob Krom was a G. E. trainee last spring in Bridgeport, Conn Methods engineering is the field Male Reilly was engaged in at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. He'd previously been titled a production sequence engineer.

Bob was previously with N. W. Ayer & Son JohnCobb is with Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in Chicago.... Anyone in serious need of soap, shortening, etc., see Dick Mullins who's credit managing in Atlanta with Procter & Gamble Distributing. ... Bob Tredwell is in the Head Office Accounting Department of Foreign Accounts of the Shell Oil Co., in New York.... And Windy City resident DaveMcLean is working with the Kimble Glass folks there.

And finally two young entrepreneurs in Toledo have started their own pressing and stamping business, almost on a shoe-string, and in three years built themselves a sizeable concern. That would be brothers Hal andGlenn Fitkin. Their success story was the subject of a full-column story in one of the local clarions in July and mentioned then good fortune in getting a contract for the Cadillac gas pedals, 11,500 of 'em a month! For those of you not familiar with the details, their able assistant on swinging that deal was Dick Catron, and ever since business has been booming. And they didn't even go to Tuck School!

Between now and Turkey Day get around to one or more of the Big Green fracases, say hi to some of the '50s on the 50, and let us hear about it. Amateur photogs are encouraged to record the scene for posterity, credit lines given, and all of you be good little elephants till next month.
