Jud McCarthy '26, our very able alumni councillor, once again played Santa Claus to the Dartmouth Club of Baltimore. Jud was a most gracious host to over 40 alumni and undergraduates at a Christmas cocktail party in the Seven Crown room of McCarthy-Hicks, Inc., and a good time was had by all.

Art Jacobson '29 and his interviewing committee have had their hands full this year and indications are that there may be more applicants for admission from the Baltimore area this year than ever before. The alumni who have participated in the interviewing are: Art Lund '27, Dave Garratt '18, Ed Pierce '41, Joe Young '45, Dick Koester '43, Allen Barrett '44, Don McPhail '32, Victor Bloede '40, Dr. George Dana, Colin Churchill '39, Don Gann '52, Bailey Walten '43, Bob Moyer '43, and Bill Fraser '51.

About a year ago a schools committee was set up under the direction of Phil Brown and although this committee is an infant as far as age is concerned, it has undertaken a man-sized job which ought to do a great deal to promote Dartmouth in the Baltimore area. The long-range purpose is to provide the College with more and better applicants in the years to come. Dr. Andrew Truxal, president of Hood College, and an active Dartmouth worker, was of considerable help in originally organizing the group which consists of CharlieArmes '34, Joe Young '45, George Parkhurst '30, Bill McKnight '37, Allen Barrett '44, Bailey Walten '43, and Dick Koester '43. These men have been very active in talking to students at the various secondary schools, answering questions, and showing the films which we recently purchased from the College.

I understand that there are a number of recent graduates who are in the service and stationed around Baltimore. These men are not on our current mailing list but we would certainly like to have them attend our meetings which are held at the Blackstone Apartments (Charles and 33rd Streets) at 6:30 P.M. The next meeting we are now planning is the annual ladies night dinner on February 25. On April 1 our guest will be Brock Brower '53, editor of the Daily Dartmouth, and on April 29 we will entertain the successful applicants for the Class of 1957 and their fathers.
