The 39th annual meeting of the Cheshire County Dartmouth Alumni Association was held in the Currier and Ives Room of the Hotel Ellis, in Keene, December 29. Seventy- two members and guests were present.

President George Hanna '39 after a brief welcoming speech introduced alumni who were new to the association, and also the undergraduates now at Dartmouth. GeorgeKingsbury '38, chairman of the examining committee, introduced six high school students who were interested in Dartmouth. Mort Shea '56 spoke for the undergraduates.

A nominating committee consisting of BobClark '43, Ken Arwe '40, and Brig Knight '13 brought in the following slate of officers for the ensuing year: President C. F. Burke '23; Vice President Jack Bean '31; Secretary- Treasurer Russell G. Putney '22; Executive Committee —W. Harry Watson '03, GeorgeHanna '39, Harold Fuller '12; Examining Committee George Kingsbury '38, CharlesBurke '23, and William H. Watson '38.

Prof. Herbert F. West '22 was the principal speaker of the evening and he compared Dartmouth under its last three presidents, Dr. Tucker, Dr. Hopkins, and Dr. Dickey. He said that Dr. Hopkins was the creator of the college as we now know it. The present regime promotes a different quality of education, probably in keeping with the times, with emphasis on world affairs and government with fewer elective courses.

He mentioned the Friends of Dartmouth Library which has procured books of great value for Baker Library which now almost rivals the great libraries of Harvard and Yale.

After the talk, two reels of Dartmouth movies were shown.
