Five members of the class attended graveside services in Nashua, N.H., on June 28 for C. Carlton "Kelly" Coffin, who died of leukemia June 22 in Miami. Those attending were class president Fred Stockwell and Ed Lider from Grantham, N.H., Eddie O'Brien from Providence, R.l., John "Jug" O'Connor from Framingham, Mass., and Tom Gerber from Concord, N.H.
I am sorry to have my first column begin on a sad note, but we all remember Kelly as a great Dartmouth booster and a loyal '43.
Our 45 th Reunion has been well covered by Tom Gerber and Eddie O'Brien. I would like to add that it was great to see Bud Kast for what I think was his first reunion. Bud looked fit enough to lead this year's varsity 11, and if the team included Ray Wolfe the scores might be more favorable.
We're having a hard time getting information about Ralph Entwistle, whose death on April 29 was reported in last month's column. Any help you can give us would be welcome. The last time I saw Ralph was in the late forties as one of the "Blossom Street Boys" living next to the Old Howard in Scollay Square. Other members included Bud Hinman '42, Ray Colby, Harry "The Rock" Davidson '44, and Bob "Cymbal" Zildjian '45.
This column will only be as interesting as the news you send me. Let me hear if you have climbed the Matterhorn, shot the Allagash, or jogged on Marco Island. I live next door to the post office in Brooklyn, so it is a simple matter to pick up the mail along with the daily clutch of Shirley's catalogs. But get the zip code right, 06234, or it might end up in the another town in New York. Shirley and I will be on Cape Cod for August and September, but the P.O. in Brooklyn has printed additional forwarding stickers for your mail.
