The frantic and frenzied attitudes conspicuous by their absence here this evening, had they been apparent, would have been attributed to the fact that all sorts of brass will swarm over our "home-away-from-home" in the early bright of tomorrow looking for shaggy hair lines on the crew, dust on the overheads, and unsigned logs all over the place. Darn near ran out of ink gun-decking the last year's data sheets and training program. The snow job would warm the cockles of any schuss bunny's aorta!
All of which should warn you that the postman has been staying away from the mail bag to make sure we weren't distracted with extraneous reading matter while preparing for our big day (in Navy lingo, it's an Administrative Inspection for those who crave the straight scoop) and so if you had a date for the links this afternoon or are anxious to turn back to the ball game on the TV set, we won't keep you long.

On April 18 Dick Tobin was married to Dr. Judith Gedney of East Orange, N. J., in South Orange. Just to complete the fruit cocktail the reception was at the Orange Lawn Tennis Club. The couple buzzed off to Jamaica, B.W.I., prior to moving to Hanover where Dick will intern at Mary Hitchcock following graduation from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. Judith, having already made the grade, is interning at St. Luke's Hospital in the Big City (New York, not Hanover) now.

Had to stretch a bit for this one to get it in the Wellesley category, but Cornelia Kelsey Lathrop from Toledo did go through Pine Manor (that's in Wellesley, son) before Northwestern and now has Clint Mauk's thoughts on the traditional springtime thoughts. Target date for the matrimony is late summer.
Anchors Aweigh Have seen and heard from a few of the Nivee boys of late, among them George Nugent and Andy Wilde in the past couple of days. George will be a civilian as he scans these lines. He should be a poppa, too, and says he will be at the University of New Hampshire next fall taking advantage of his rich Uncle's tempting offer to learn on the taxpayers. Encountered Andy in downtown Norfolk last week at the midnight jazz concert of the Benny Goodman band -Louis Armstrong combo. He was snapping pix with the available light of the auditorium and we all agreed that the music was real gone. The phrase is passe? It was cool, then. Still out of date? Okay, so the group was nervous. Yeah.
Wiping the pre-dinner malt suds off our stubble as we came on board tonight, we got a phone call from Crash Mcllwain whose ship, the radar picket Greene, is back at the shipyard following a rough session in the "khakiclad wastes of Gitmo."Bob said about the only Indian he saw was Tommy Ringe, flying Panthers off a flat top.

Grapevine Reports While we have the class topper doffed, wave it at Don Hyatt for his work on the NBS production of Victory at Sea. Don has already had a scrambled-eeg cap tipped to him when he received the Navy's Certificate of Outstanding Public Service for the job. Congrats, too, to Dick Barnes awarded the Doctor of Philoso phy degree from Harvard in March.

Joe Stehlin wrote a fine letter from San Antonio, Tex., where he is stationed.
"I still find myself homesteading, trying to get by as a Training Officer. I am hoping that the Air Force will get tired of me one of these days and we'll both say good bye. We? Walked down the last mile 2200 31st of December 1952, and really had a celebration. New Year's Eve . . . the income tax deduction was incidental.
"Connie Bohuslav just graduated from OCS in March and left with an intelligence assignment. Otherwise no other '50s in this vicinity. Can't say that for '51s. They are all over the place. If anyone happens to visit the Alamo City give me a ring at 1129 Fenfield Ave."
Joe, as if you didn't know, is one of GlennFitkin's assistants in the Alumni Fund drive. There are lots of them, all trying to remind you you never had it so good as it was then .. . remember? If you need a sales talk, you'll get it. Just make sure the College gets a little, too, huh?
Off to the beaches and links with you. Have a good old summertime and send us post cards of your escapades. Just don't sign it like the cryptic one that arrived last week from the Pennsy Turnpike marked "Guess Who!"
