Ed Hunter has retired as chairman of the Corporation of Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital after serving 43 years, but will continue his membership on the Corporation. The president of the Board of Trustees pointed out that Hunter's length of service is without parallel, and praised his judgement and counsel, acknowledging a debt to the Hospital which cannot possibly be repaid. ErnestM. Hopkins was elected to the chairman's spot at the annual meeting.

Addison F. Rugg '30, the only son of Warren and Leila Rugg passed away February 11, after a short illness. He had been connected with the Mt. Hope Cemetery Association of New York for some years, serving as vice president and treasurer. Our deepest sympathy is extended to his wife and his mother, who survive him.

The Wheaton Alumnae Quarterly for January carried a write-up of the Board of Trustees of that institution. Included on the Board is Channing Cox, who serves on the finance committee. Credit is given Chan for his financial support and counsel. He has a personal interest in Wheaton in that daughter Nancy graduated in the Class of 1937.

At the Boston alumni dinner, February 17, the regular "Old Guard," consisting of NedCalderwood, Bill Cheever, Chan Cox, GeorgeFrench, Arthur Sampson, Johnnie Ward and T Wood, represented the Class.

Louie Crone writes reminiscently of PaulEckstorm and the early days of freshman year, when they both lived down in the old Wainwright house. He says:

"Paul Eckstorm's death saddened me. I think he and Ned Wainwright were the first classmates I met, except Art Redman and EdRobinson, who were schoolmates of mine. When I was stationed in Butte I made several trips home and back, each entailing a stop-over in Chicago. Everytime I was there, the old Goat and I had a reunion and a good time. Paul roomed with his brother John and Walter McCormack on the top floor of the Wainwright house. On the first Sunday we were in Hanover, John and Mac rounded up a bunch of us freshmen and paraded us down and back to Wilder. If there were any Dartmouth songs or traditions we had not heard by the time we returned I am not aware of them. I have often thought of the kindness extended by the two leading Dartmouth athletes to a group of innocent freshmen, and compared it with the welcome we received from some other members of the College."

Word had been received of the death of Mrs. Harriet Nute Young, widow of WalterYoung. She passed away February 22, in her old home in Derry, N. H.
