On January 9, Bill Kimball '29 started an exciting six-month assignment in Washington, D. C., as consultant to Dr. J. Herbert Hollomon, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Science and Technology, and the Area Redevelopment Administration. Bill is to be active in the promotion of applications of science and technology, including education in same, in the redevelopment of economically depressed areas in the United States. From Germany, George Breed '62 writes: "Last luly I went into the Army where I remained on active duty until December 20, 1962. On December 28, I married Diana Homer, Smith '62, and on December 30 we flew to Munich. Here at the Degerndorf station of the Goethe Institut we'll study the German language until May when we'll go to Cologne to study at that city's university. At Cologne I expect most of my two years' work will be in the marketing of electronic equipment."
Barry Sibson '61 writes that as the result of a renewed interest in civil engineering, he is planning to earn a master's degree at either Stanford or Cornell. After graduation from Dartmouth, Barry studied architecture at the University of Pennsylvania and civil engineering at Drexel Institute. These experiences together with a period of work on a construction project have channeled Barry's interests into construction administration and structural engineering.
On Christmas card from California, we learn that Ray Briggs '44 is working for the California Division of Highways and is hoping to obtain his professional registration this year.
