As I start to write these notes, Don Wilbur walks into the office with his two fine boys, David and James, catalogs in hand; and so it looks as if we're seeing the campus with an eye to enrollment. A pleasant lunch with them; especially nice as we have had our first very wet and heavy snow (reports of 3-5 inches in places) to make it pretty last night and this morning, but hard on shrubs and some trees. Recognizing Don was nice for us both, as we haven't met for many years; I hope others whose faces - names don't come so easily won't be offended, for this is one psychologist who wishes he were much better at this skill than he is. It took a couple of times to click with Ford Bowman, for example; he has been in town frequently and it is pleasant to have a lunch-chat with him occasionally.

These notes will be brief as this issue is crowded, and so I'll try to persuade ButtsLamson to invite me to guest-edit a News Letter for him. I want to make a fuller report on the Lafayette game and Harvard game weekends than can be done here. The former was a disappointment and partly due to getting started late on our planning. For next year, the home games are New Hampshire, September 29; Holy Cross, October 20; and Columbia, November 3 (not Yale or Princeton, as rumor had it). Several of you, talking with me over the above weekends suggest having two get-togethers. That may be what we come up with, but it seems to me the best date would be for the early game with UNH - September 29; by October 20, the foliage would have gone (it went early this year, even before traditional Columbus Day) and there would be a town-full for the Holy Cross game. It occurs to me we would have a better time at the less crowded date and prettier-scenery time. What do you think? Let me know. Also, the Father-Son dinner this year - of which more in the Class Notes - is tentatively scheduled for February 17-18, when there will be a large number of good athletic attractions, and not too close to Carnival or too soon after the Holidays. Watch for details in the Notes.

Belated record is here made of the birth of a granddaughter to Gordie and Mary Bridge, well known here in Hanover and in the bonds of Chi Phi. The date was August 24, the place Verdun, France, where her GI husband is stationed, and the name is Karen Gordon Klinck.

People are on the move now and again, John Dregge writes from Washington; he has left his job in Montreal, by resignation, and is now in the Capitol City awaiting a new assignment and a permanent place to hang his hat. He and Connie were here for the Harvard game - one of many I missed seeing - but mostly with their daughter and son-in-law and having to stay out of town. And for that game, where was Bevo Beers? Still down in Texas visiting his son? The advance publicity for his arrival was terrific - but confusing.
