It seemed appropriate that exactly 27 members of the Class should have sat down at the table for the Class Dinner at the Dartmouth Club in New York on November 3, following a couple of hours which were spent, by your secretary at least, in catching up on the activities of many classmates who hadn't been seen or heard from since the last reunion. Those in attendance were Tom Hession, Fred Page, Joe Russakoff, Bill Williams, Bob Stevens, Joe Creamer, Jack Jones, Rudy Preuss, Ory Herwitz, Ken Murray, Rog Bury, Ros Nichols, Josh Davis, Ed Frey, Les Kilmarx, Bunny Smith, Ed Baker, Hank Bayles, Ned Dwyer, Al Lagacy, Howie Mullin, Will Shaw, and Reg Vincent from New York and vicinity, plus Pat Patridge, Les Battin, Gus Cummings, and your secretary from the outlands, and the perennial sparkplug of these New York dinners, Sam Wormser, who was responsible for the whole thing. In case you think that I can't count, and that the above list totals 28, not 27, you are right, but Reg Vincent was late in arriving, so we started out with the magic number.

During the afternoon, there had been a meeting of the Executive Committee at which a good many matters were discussed, and plans for several class functions put in motion, most important of which is the forthcoming reunion in June of 1957. We hope that by next month the personnel of the reunion committee can be announced, but at this time I can assure you that it's going to be a great party, and one which none of you will want to miss. A good deal of discussion and thought was devoted to improving the organization of the Class, along the lines of the new plan which has been approved by the Alumni Council, and which was developed by the Council's Committee on Class Organization. This plan, about which you will hear a good deal more between now and the time of our next reunion, is designed to provide for a considerably greater division of responsibility in the initiation and carrying forward of various class functions, and you will doubtless see many evidences of our discussions during the next several months. Of course, the corollary of such division of responsibility is that many members of the Class be willing to accept a certain amount of it, so if you are asked to lend a hand I sincerely hope that you will do so.

A fitting climax to the very successful and enjoyable class dinner was the victory over Columbia on Saturday, and not even the rain which persisted all through the first half could spoil that day.

Ed Marston has been promoted to assistant manager of the New York District Sales office of the American Viscose Corporation. Ed has been with American Viscose since 1944, as a salesman in the New York district. Previously he had been with the Pepperell Manufacturing Co., and with Hood Rubber.

A note from Cal Voorhis, who represents the World-Publishing Company in the Southeast and who lives in Chapel Hill, N. C., expresses a little of what we must all be feeling these days when he says that the 50th is a rather appalling birthday, with so much time spent already, and so much still to do. Cal has two daughters, one of whom was married last year and the other a sophomore at the University of North Carolina, and a son who is a junior at the Chapel Hill High School. Cal expected, at the time he wrote, to see Harry Dey in Stanton, Va., the next day. It seems that Dartmouth has a strangle hold on Stanton, as Harry is superintendent of Stanton Military Academy, and Mac McKenzie '20 is president of Mary Baldwin College.

For many years Dinty Gardner has weathered hurricanes and somewhat lesser storms by virtue of riding them out in his ketch Borogrove, while other skippers, probably less hardy, have seen their boats smashed up on the rocks. In fact, it is our understanding that Dinty has achieved quite a reputation around Marblehead for these tactics. Whether Dinty didn't feel that the storm of October 16 was severe enough to warrant these measures, or what might have happened to prevent his carrying them out, I don't know, but the Borogrove broke loose from her moorings, and was about to go aground on the rocks of Marblehead Neck when it was spied by a Brown University junior, who fortunately is also a national junior sailing champion. This young man was able to board the ketch, and, exhibiting great skill, was able to get it to the Corinthian Yacht Club, where it was safely moored. Perhaps this was Brown's way of repaying Dartmouth for our defeat the previous weekend.

Bo Head sent a brief report on the San Francisco regional conference, which was held from October 6 to 6. In addition to 80, the Class of was represented by Duke Coulter,Sam Martin, Roily Howes, and Bill Abbott, who was chairman of the host committee, and in addition Gus Cummings had a sort of proxy representation through his son, Harrington '51. Those of you who are interested in the interviewing and enrollment phase of alumni activity probably know about these conferences, which have now been held at several points throughout the country, and doubtless a good many of you have attended one or more of them. There was another held in Indianapolis a week later, at which 1927 was represented by Buck McKee and your secretary. It was a most informative and enjoyable experience, and if any of you have an opportunity to get to one of these conferences at any time in the future, I can recommend most heartily that you make whatever effort is required to attend. I had a very enjoyable visit with Buck, whom I hadn't seen since graduation. After having spent over twenty years with the Union Trust Company of Indianapolis, he and an associate bought a small-town bank, which they are developing, and Buck says that he is having more fun than he has ever had.

Ken Murdoch reports the birth of a grandson on April 13. His father is Lt. George F. Murdoch '54, who is stationed at Camp Lejeune.

Al MacdonalcL of the F.B.I. has been in Washington, and will be there for several months more, before returning to Milwaukee.

Don and Marge Proudman made a trip through Vermont and Hanover early in October, on their annual trip to see the foliage. Don says that he always looks at real estate when he is in Hanover, and that the only thing that keeps him from settling there is that there isn't a very good demand for trust officers up in that country. His elder daughter Gail graduated from Mt. Vernon Junior College, and is now teaching at New Canaan Country School. Don says that he sees BillCrane often, and once in awhile sees Stu Ensinger, who is a trust officer in the pension section of the Bankers Trust Company.

Following is the impressive list of the members of the Class of 1927 who shared in making last year's Alumni Fund the greatest in history, both for the College and for the Class. If your name isn't there, this is the time to make a firm resolution that it will be next year, and every year from now on. A Merry Christmas to all of you, and every wish for happiness in the New Year.
