Since last report, when it had a record of one win and one defeat, the Dartmouth varsity squash team has dropped four straight matches. The Big Green lost to Navy 10-0 and then was blanked by Harvard, Army and Yale by 9 0 scores. Despite the poor team record, many of the individual matches have been extremely close and Coach Red Hoehn feels that his team is improving and will do better as the season moves along.
Tom Hamilton is currently playing number one for the Indians, with Dan Anzel ranked second, Captain Ken Harvey third, Fred Darche number four and Butch Waid number five. Playing in the number six spot is Aaron Daniels, with Jim Craig seventh, Livingston Jenks eighth, Fred Oman ninth and John Levy tenth.
It seems unfortunate that after the opening match with M.I.T., Dartmouth met probably the top teams in the East in Harvard, Navy, Army and Yale. Against Wesleyan and Amherst the Indians should do much better, but there is little doubt that the team lacks top talent although it does have good depth. The play of some of the sophomores is particularly impressive to Coach Hoehn who is thinking ahead to next year already.
