Only one dual meet - a 64½ to 44½ defeat by Harvard - has occurred since the last report. This loss coupled with a January defeat by Cornell gives the Indian runners under Coach Ellie Noyes a 0-2 record. A feature of the Harvard meet was the duel between Dartmouth captain John Harlor, indoor Heptagonal broad jump champion, and Harvard captain Bob Rittenburg, holder of the outdoor Heptagonal broad jump title. Both men displayed top form with Harlor finally winning with a leap of 22 feet, eight inches. George Bixby, Dartmouth's sophomore weight man, broke the only record of the meet when he tossed the hammer 52 feet, 61/2 inches to smash the old College record of 51 feet, 10 inches. Pole vaulter Lou Metzger soared 12 feet, 9 inches to win that event, but the Crimson proved too strong in the hurdles, middle distance and distance events for the Indians.
The freshman track team, which won its opener over Andover 52-41, also bowed to the superior Crimson forces by a 59½ to 49½ score. The '58 runners took five of thirteen first places, including a clean sweep in the pole vault, but Harvard's overall superiority proved too great.
