The Dartmouth Club of Western Pennsylvania had a most enjoyable Annual Dinner Meeting at the University Club on the evening of January 26. The dinner was preceded by a cocktail hour and it was very pleasant to have a chance to get around and chat with quite a lot of people who were attending one of our affairs for the first time.
President Fred Garfield did a very excellent job of running the dinner ceremonies. He got Rem Drury to describe our enrollment activities and Sam Coombs to run down the plans for the approaching Glee Club concert. Then he turned the meeting over to yours truly, who had the honor of introducing the guest speaker for the evening, Dean of the College Joseph Lee McDonald. The Dean gave a wonderful talk and everyone left the U. Club feeling that it had been one of the finest Dartmouth evenings in a long while. MauryBaruth, who had charge of the Annual Dinner for the fourth year in a row, deserves a big hand for the excellence of his preparations. In order to take fullest advantage of the Dean's presence in Pittsburgh, the Club's enrollment committee held a luncheon in his honor to which we invited a dozen of the principals of the leading secondary schools in the Pittsburgh area. In addition to meeting Dean McDonald, the luncheon gave the principals a chance to get acquainted with all of our enrollment men, and the Dean's remarks about the College, its aims, objectives, and enrollment practices will certainly be of assistance in getting these principals to recommend good boys to us for Dartmouth.
The Dartmouth Glee Club will be in Pittsburgh for its annual concert on Wednesday, March 30. This year the concert will be held at Shaler High School. Sam Coombs is in charge of all of the arrangements.
