On the evening of February 17, the Tokyo Dartmouth Club held a joint dinner meeting with the Tokyo Princeton Club. This was the first time such a meeting has been held here and a fine time was had by the 37 Dartmouth and Princeton alumni and friends who were there. Steve Zimmerman, Princeton 1950, was the spark plug of the Princeton group and Takanaga Mitsui '15, president of the Dartmouth Club, made all the arrangements at the Prince Hotel where the meeting was held. After dinner we all watched some fine Hanover movies sent to us by Blair Watson, and even the Princeton group seemed to enjoy them.
The following Dartmouth alumni were there: Ralph Greenhouse '49, a Fulbright Scholar doing anthropology work at Kyoto University, George Chang '30, Angus Cunningham '53, Ardie Epranian '52, Jim Fraser '52, Yoji Hirota '28a, Ed Korn '38, Takanaga Mitsui '15, Bill Biddle '52, Nobu Mitsui '43, Frank O'Reilly '53, Steve Pearsall '53, and Pete Zischke '52.
Three more Dartmouth alumni have also recently turned up in Japan. Dave Vogel '50 of D.O.C. fame is now stationed here in Tokyo with the Army and is working as a geologist; Joe Rinehart '40 is a major with the Marines at Camp Fuji; and Robert Ryan '32 is here working on a new movie TheHouse of Bamboo. Movie commitments demanded a lot of Robert's time so that he was unable to make a meeting, but a few of us were able to talk with him briefly and give him the latest news from Hanover.
We hope to see at our next meeting, BurtonMartin '34, who returned last fall from a lecture tour through the United States and is at present lecturing at a University in Kyushu and also writing for the English Mainichi newspaper.
CHOPSTICKS for real local color and aprons for precaution were featured at the DartmouthClub of Tokyo dinner meeting at the Chinzanso Restaurant on January 20.
