During the summer and early fall the Dartmouth Club has continued to have its regular dinner monthly meeting, with numerous other get-togethers all around the Tokyo area. Most of the members are strung out all over Japan and Korea, but there is always a sizable group for every meeting. Most of our activities are centered around getting to know the Dartmouth Family in Japan and working with the young Japanese men who are or will be at Dartmouth. Chiharu Igaya, Dartmouth's brightest new skier, was at a few meetings before he left for Hanover; and Mamoru Mitsui, the son of Takanaga Mitsui '15 (who is president of the Club) and part of a big Dartmouth family, was also at some meetings before leaving for his first year at Hanover.

The meetings since May have run about like this: on May 20 we had one of the biggest meetings of the year at the Mitsui Club here in Tokyo; on June 17 we moved down to the Naval Base at Yokosuka for dinner at the Officers' Club with Cmdr. "Porky" Flynn and Cmdr. Fred Ewing '40 acting as hosts; on August 1 we had a beach picnic at Hayama Beach in Kamakura with Lt. and Mrs. WyllyA. Moore '46 acting as hosts; on August 21 the Hong Kong Restaurant in Tokyo, where the picture was taken, was the scene for the Dartmouth gathering; and on September 16 we met at the Chinzanso Club in Tokyo for a small but very enjoyable dinner and a look at the beautiful gardens at this Club. Besides these places we have met at Herb Fish's house often, where his swimming pool and homey atmosphere make it ideal, and at the Asabu Mansion in Tokyo. The Club rarely has to worry about a place to meet and we often try to pick new places each time. As for the members, the list is long, but most of them are able to make many of the meetings. Aside from those already mentioned, there are the following: Bryan Battey '46, director of the American Cultural Center in Tokyo; Bob Capps '51, Army; Sid Cardozo '38, on the Stars andStripes staff; George H. Chang '30, with the Central News Agency of China; Leo Clancy '53, Army; James Doole '45, with the Takahashi Baseball Team; Ardie Epranian '52, Army; Jim Fraser '52, Army; Bob Frondorf '41, who along with Herb Fish will be leaving in November or December for the States we'll miss them both; Kyosuke Fuhuda '29, who is with the Tokyo Shimbun; Ft. With this group we also bid goodbye to two more Dartmouth freshmen, Seiko Enbutsu and Thalen G. Hurwitz. There probably are many more Dartmouth men over here and we hope that they will get a chance to come to Tokyo for some of the meetings. We haven't got football games and houseparties, but we do have Sukiyaki dinners and fine parties!
