Dartmouth tennis coach Red Hoehn was highly pleased, after predicting a weak team this spring, at the results of the Dartmouth tennis team's southern trek. The Indians came home with five wins, including an Eastern League win over Navy, against two losses.

Dartmouth started off in strong fashion, downing North Carolina State and Wake Forest by 10-2 and 14-1 scores. However, a strong University of North Carolina team handed the Indians a taste of their own medicine by winning 15-1 and 14-1 on successive days. Next came the 5-4 victory over the Naval Academy, with the doubles team of Chet Gale and Fred Pessl teaming up to break a 4-all deadlock by winning 6-4, 6-2. The netmen finished up their trip by defeating Howard University easily 9-0.

Captain Dan Anzel, Chet Gale, Dave Kerr and Fred Darche are the top veterans on the team this spring and divide the first four places among them. Doug Archibald and Fred Pessl are the other lettermen on the squad, while sophomores Bob Smith and Pete Buswell along with junior Herb West complete the rankings.

This past weekend, which marked the start of the regular schedule, the Dartmouth-Colgate match was postponed because of rain, while a strong Cornell team downed the Indians 8-1.
