Vic Dunbar and Marjorie traveled three weeks through Nova Scotia and Canada this summer, spending one week at Margaree Harbor at a delightful inn.

Mr. and Mrs. George B. McClary were at the Hanover Inn in July, and were sorry to miss seeing others who might have been there. John and Laura Remsen were guests in September for the Bequest Committee chairmen's meetings.

George Steele, having retired to 18 Old Colony Road, Wellesley Hills 82, Mass., does not expect to spend too much time there this year. He is travelling through the U.S. for The Choate School, visiting alumni and fathers of students.

Matt Gately's retirement is officially dated August 31, Rio de Janeiro, where he leaves The First National Bank of Boston which he has served as vice-president for many years. He and Dorothy have spent a month in Buenos Aires and have started on a trip around the world which will consume about a year. They go to Capetown, Singapore and Hongkong and then to Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Honolulu and California. They'll motor across the States to Hanover around August 1957. They will probably settle in Buenos Aires unless they change their present feelings. General and Edna Willson have started their trek back to Delray Beach, Fla., with the first stop at the Pickwick Arms Hotel, Greenwich, Conn., where he sent back greetings to '13, '14 and '15 at Patten's Wednesday group.

Fred Hovey has sold his property and roadside stand at Walpole, N. H., and a£ter spending some time in Manchester, Conn., with his son, he will return to Whitman. Present Connecticut address, 257 Green Road.

Edmund Freeman and Gladys spent some time in August at "Singing Waters,' the home in Vermont, and saw among others, AlWashburn at Bethel and Steve and AlicePerry at Brandon. John Noble was not at home in Bethel the day they called.

Line Wilson, although retired from the French Line, has a "one day a week job" trying to get about twelve steamship lines to agree on the wording of some rules and regulations regarding passenger traffic from the west coast to Europe. "You should hear Frenchmen, Swedes, Danes and Dutchmen tell me what certain English words mean. You would think an American could write the American language, but they do not think so. I have been at it since January 1 and we are still trying to stop quibbling over words. I have played golf, painted, reset plants; golf seems spotty, one day 85 and last Sunday 74, which isn't bad for an old gentleman too decrepit to work.

"Vander Pyle is off on a cruise around the world. J. Howell Byrnes lives in Oakland and has a very fine business. Gerald Miller is still in Carmel running an apartment and hotel."

Matthew F. Gately '13, a leading member ofthe American colony in Rio de Janeiro, hasretired as Vice President of the Rio branch ofthe First National Bank of Boston.
