As this month's helpful hint to harassed husbands, we will point out that Dan Cupid's Day is in the offing; in fact, St. Valentine's Day is hard upon us and we'd better be looking at heart-shaped boxes of candy and frilly greeting cards if we want to avoid burned dinners and curt retorts from our good wives. Not that you'd forget, but remind your boss or buddy. This advice might well be adhered to by the following personnel recently seen at....

WALKING THE LAST MILE. ... Strolling the path of dalliance no longer is Pete vonHerrmann, as witness his betrothal to Mary Layton Turner of Utica and New York City. Plans for a summer wedding were made known November 26. Miss Turner was graduated from Smith College, Phi Bete, and she's now a music selector for N.B.C. No, George, not the National Biscuit Company! As if this were not enough good fortune for one year, Pete was also named recipient of the first $1500 Atomic Development Mutual Fund fellowship at Yale to further his work in nuclear physics. For those of you who can understand, he's going to use a pulse height analyser to study the gamma rays emitted by atoms made artificially radioactive by cyclotron bombardment.

RATTLE PRATTLE Scott Peters says wife Liz threatens bodily harm if we don't quickly proclaim the arrival of Christopher Morrill last June 1. Daddy must have had too much homework from Pratt & Whitney up around Hartford to send out the tidings earlier.

INKADENTAL INTELLIGENTZ.... What news we have to offer here seems to lie mostly in the financial and legal departments. Rating a tip of the topper for accomplishments in the former category is Clift Whiteman who was elected a second vice president of the Guaranty Trust Company in N.Y.C. The same deference is due Jay Buck who was promoted to assistant cashier in the Banking Department of the Northern Trust Company in Chicago. Jay has graduated from the University of Chicago School of Commerce and the Army since leaving Hanover.
Combining activities in both fields, HerbRay gets his tuition money for law school at night by toiling at the First National Bank in Chi. Bob Sisk, on the other hand, has been taking the grind to legal beagle status via the daytime route at Yale - horrible word to keep cropping up, but what can you do about it? - and of late has been noted a member of the winning team in the Sixth Annual New England Regional Finals of Court Competition. We have word that Bob and MaryKilmarx have a new chateau in Cohasset, Mass., and figure the groceries are being won with some endeavor in the field of law, though we don't have data on exactly who and where at the moment.
Recent Hanover Inn-dians included Dick"Sweaterboy" Echikson in town to talk to Tuck School on how to turn over $2000 worth of fabrics and make a $3000 profit. Unfortunately Ech has not solved the knotty problem of retaining the benefits of his technique for anyone besides the boss. Also in Hanover in December was Bud Veghte.
Dick Ribble has finally ceased his wild blue yonder flitting in favor of concentration on blue sky investments and similar interests by way of acquiring a sheepskin from the Harvard B School. While in Beantown, "Rip" exchanges pleasantries with the Dan Featherstons and waxes his boards for a ski jaunt into the north woods as soon as possible.
Dave and Orian Taylor aver their fondness for fog and the charm of Chinatown, and generally indicate San Francisco is a bit of all right. Got the same word from John andJoyce Moulton directly when they passed through on the way to Europe. Having visited John's sister and her husband, Jack Elliott, the Moult was taking his beard and his spouse to Austria for a little skiing and a lot of studying towards his Ph.D. in philosophy at Cal. Or maybe it was a lot of skiing. Anyhow, sounded like a grand trip.
That will be that for now, troops. As you can see, we could really use some tidbits of news around here, so drop a line and we'll see you sometime before the wearing of the shamrocks.
