About the time you get around to reading these paltry few words you should have your Easter eggs decorated and hidden. Happy jelly beans and here's a new gimmick. Pay attention now: we may ask questions later. The idea is that since we don't have room to merely list all of you who intend to attend reunion, we'll put an asterisk (*) after prospective returnees, a double asterisk (**) when the squaw is known to be included in plans, and three marks (***) if the whole family will be on hand. All set to play the game? Let's start at...

THE HITCHING POST

In Pasadena, Calif., on January 23, Leo Appel and Hildred Meliss Armitage were married in the First Methodist Church. After a jaunt to Acapulco and Mexico City, the couple took up residence in Rye, N.H. Hildred graduated from Occidental College.

WALKING THE LAST MILE

On January 17 Philadelphians learned that Dick Howden and Miss Joan Mary Mantell were engaged. No date listed in the papers but we learned that Dick is a senior at Jefferson Medical College in Quakertown.

By now the wedding bells have chimed in Brighton, Mass., for Rhoda Berman and Bill Sapers (*). Quiz takers will get partial credit for answering dual reunion plans for them; we can't imagine Bill will solo on June 17-19 having been married in March! Rhoda is a grad of Beth Israel Hospital School of Nursing and a student at Boston U. School of Nursing. Bill picked up his Master's in biz from B. U.

Had a good letter from Tony Ambrose (**) with the happy tidings that on Valentine's Day he and Gail Kirkman of Riverside, Conn., and Stanford would reveal plans for a June wedding. Tony and Lee Sarokin have been in touch with the Barbary Coasters including Rog Mathes (*), Howie Lawrence, Don Cook, John Knapp (*), and Dan Meschter. Doubtless we've missed naming some of the Chowder and Marching Society members, but they'll probably not be so offended as to miss the doings. For the record, Tony moved his law practice to Parsippany-Troy Hills last May and was appointed attorney to the municipal planning board. Also in New Jersey, Lee legalizes in Newark. John Knapp recently was named assistant secretary at HRB-Singer, Inc., in State College, Penna., where he and Mary-Lou keep three youngsters (Lucy, Molly, and Jeff) at 154 West Ridge Avenue. John had been manager of contract administration and previously served as project controller at HRB-Singer. Before 1953 John was with Manufacturers and Traders Trust Company.

Which discourse got us off the happy news of nuptials. Congratulations to all you people!

MISCELLANEOUS MUTTERINGS

Joel Leavitt (**) reports that by the end of February 178 guys and dolls had indicated they'd be in Hanover for reunion and another 72 were hopeful. We're hoping the number will increase considerably as the word spreads regarding plans. The theme apparently will be " '50 Welcomes the 50th State" so Hawaiian shirts, ukuleles, and sandals will be in style. If you haven't told Joel you'll be there, mail him a five spot and your roster to 58 Warwick Street, Longmeadow, Mass.

Si Morand (*) got out to Arizona in January and saw the Stan Frederick entourage several times. Since Si toils for Merrill Lynch and Stan hangs his hat at the Tucson office of E.F. Hutton, stock market activities were a natural subject. Another marketeer, Jack Hatned (*) has been made a partner of his company, Glore, Forgan, in New York.

Dick Hollands has a new address, Rogue Saena Pena 1139, Olivos, Argentina, S.A. No report on his mission there, but he hasn't checked in for reunion yet. Wonder why?

Also an overseas traveler is Capt. Fred Laird whose mail goes to Montpelier but is based in Washington, D.C. Recent assignments took him to Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Los Angeles. Another potential sight-seer is sub-mariner Lt. Cmdr. Bill Williams now living in Gales Ferry, Conn. Another classmate is back here. Tor Arneberg recently moved to West Hartford from Oslo. Back in Worcester after a stint with the U.N. in Ecuador is Tom O'Connell (**) who has been working for the Massachusetts Board of Regional Community Colleges planning expansion of publicly supported institutions of higher learning. Did we miss any globe trotters?

A recent note from Jack Brodie says Wayzata is the right town, but gadzooks, Minneapolis-Honeywell is his employer! The Brode broods over markets which don't research right, although most of 'em look pretty healthy these days. While in Los Angeles on one trip Jack dined with Dick Milliken (*) who's a lawyer in the tax field. Note the asterisk for Dick? Minne-gophers planning on reunion are David "Scat" Luce (*) from the Golden Gopher U., Walt Schuette (*), and Tom Warner (*). Ken Rothschild, a veep for mortgage loans at H. and Val J. Rothschild in St. Paul, says he, Nina, Kenny, Mary, and Sally will have to stay home and lend money on homes. Jack reported that Ken's milk punch formula was excellent and that CurtDunnavan concurred. None of these gents nor Bill Frenzel nor Arnie Oss has yet chartered a plane for reunion weekend. Time's awastingl!

Sherry Marchant (**) filled in some details on his second daughter, Susan Montgomery, born January 20. The new arrival tipped the scales at eight pounds, nine ounces. Elder sister Wendy Ann will be three on August 6. He and Anita will council with the Jim Farmers (******) on how to get a boy when they meet at reunion. You might check with the Jack Kent (**) clan, too, Ray! So might your neighbor, Webb Gault (**) whose family includes heiresses Victoria, Wendelyn, and Cynthia born in 1955, '57, and last October 31. Webb heard from Hartford visitors Bill Clark, account executive with the transportation outfit of Peterson, Howell, & Heather, and Tom Ruggles (*), SPEBSQSA warbler.

Jim Gaylord (**) is now assistant plant personnel manager for Scott Paper in Chester, Penna. He and Nancy spend their summers in Maine and expect to return to The Plain in June. Their younger set includes Barrie Elizabeth, nine; Susan, going on eight; Jim III, six-and-a-half; and Nancy Southworth, two-and-a-half.

Dave and Hester White have been in Tulsa since 1954 with Jersey Production Research Company where Dave is a research geologist. He got his Master's in 1951 and a Ph.D. in 1954 from Minnesota. Their boys Jonathan, born April 18, 1955, and Daniel, March 29, 1957.

Gene Hotchkiss (*) has been appointed dean of students at Harvey Mudd College and will assume duties there this summer. It's a new college, only three years old, with a curriculum of science and engineering.

Will try to post you on more of the returning hoard next month if space will allow. In closing it is our very sad duty to record the passing of Bruce Magoon on February 4 of a heart attack. Further details can be found under the "In Memorium" section in this or a subsequent issue.
