Another 1900 grandchild, William Heris Allaway Jr., was horn 10 November to Olivia, daughter of O. W. Foster. In 195 a Olivia (Wellesley '46) married William Harris Allaway (B.S. University of Illinois '49, also M.A. '51; attended universities in France and Austria). Both were associated with the Institute of International Relations - the Denver, Colo., and Chicago, Ill., offices. Presently they are engaged in Y.W. and Y.M.C.A. work at the University of Kansas.
A Christmas card from Alvah and MarthaFowler reports that in November the American Society of Engineers held their Golden Anniversary. Alvah, as one of the six living charter members and the only one present, was guest of honor.
Joan, daughter of Constance (Mrs. Harry B. Milner), who is the daughter of Bradlee andJeannette Rich, was married in New Rochelle, N.Y., on 19 November 1955 to Thomas C. Lott. Joan was graduated last June from Connecticut College. Thomas is a graduate of Columbia University and is a member of the faculty of the Scarsdale High School.
We are sorry that Roy Sawyer does not keep in touch with us. The last we heard he was living in Hartford, Conn. Mrs. Sawyer was to have retired last June from her teaching at a United Fruit Company School for children at Santa Marta (Colombia, S.A.). She was persuaded to continue for at least another year. The Sawyers have three children. Bayard (Purdue '35) is advertising director of the wellknown McGraw-Hill Company publication, Business Week. With his wife and two children he lives in New Jersey. Mary (Purdue '42) with her husband, Vincent S. Potter and three children, lives in Bogota, Colombia, S.A., where Mr. Potter is associated with Sterling Products Co.; and David, who was with the Class of 1945 at Dartmouth but transferred to University of Texas, is in charge of the Houston (Texas) office of McGraw-Hill Company publication, Petroleum Week. He is married and has two children.
