In December the University Glee Club of New York had a most successful concert. The program always ends with a group of college songs. Wood Gauss, a past president of the Glee Club, led the singing of "Eleazar Wheelock" with such enthusiasm and received such cooperation from the glee club that the applause was thunderous. Actually an encore was sung. Something that has never happened before.

The Herb Homes and the Chet Bixbys sailed out of Port Newark, January 22 for 26 days on a freighter, the W. R. Grace liner "Santa Magdalena." This trip took them through the Canal and down the West Coast to Lima, Peru. Who should be sitting at the next table but Bill and Ruth Landauer, Jim's brother and sister-in-law. Sam Home kept them on tenterhooks for most of the trip. It seems a clot of blood formed in an artery in Sam's right leg. This necessitated a major operation with much tieing off of arteries. Fortunately the Sam Homes found an excellent surgeon plus Art and Adah Everit to run errands and hover nearby. Sam made a wonderful come-back.

Jack Myers, a realtor of many years, is now a partner of Elliott and Myers, 12 N. 7th Street, Camden, N. J. In March Jack and Dee headed for Great Britain and the continent to explore for three months, the old haunts made famous by the '23 cattlemen of the "S.S. Welchman."

Jack has, for many years, been an active worker of the Y. M. C. A. of Camden County. In 1965 he was named "Man of the Year" by the Physical Council. Jack is chairman of the Physical Education Committee, a member of the Central Branch Board of Management and a member of the Board of Directors. The Myers have a reservation at the Precision Valley Motel, North Springfield, Vt„ for the Princeton game, arriving Thursday, golf on Friday, and on to victory Saturday. Precision Valley, according to Jack, is a nice quiet motel with excellent restaurants in the neighborhood.

Charles Albert Sanchez, alias "Duke," alias "Red Carlos," now resides at 2025 Baton Rouge, La., that is 2025 Stuart Avenue. Sixteen years have elapsed since his name has appeared in print. Carlos became sick last June and moved from Guatemala City to Baton Rouge in September. He was ordained a Catholic priest in New Orleans and said his first solemn mass in Baton Rouge. Later he had a parish in Guatemala City. Carlos now feels fine - thank God.

August Ziegler's name has been missing from this column for exactly 25 years. In 1941 he was an insurance adjustor for Travelers with an office at 55 John Street, N.Y.C. Originally he was to retire on May 10, 1965. Sickness upset his plans and he actually retired a few months earlier. His health is now back to absolute normalcy and the Zieglers moved to 26 Maple Lane, East Hampton, N. Y. 11937, last June. His daughter Barbara now lives in San Marino, Calif., and son Bill is in Mt. Kisco, N. Y. They were 15 and 10 respectively in 1941.

Friends of Go Bliss will be distressed to hear of the recent death of Liberty Bliss. Go is shoving off for Lisbon, Portugal, out of Pt. Everglades, March 28 on the Portuguese liner Santa Maria. He will be back at Blissmere early in May.

Jack Griffin ran his own investment business at 49 Federal Street, Boston, for a number of years. In 1933 he agreed to organize the relief department of Wellesley and said it would take about 12 weeks. He did such an outstanding job that the town refused to let him resign. He became coordinator of the town with the legal title of Executive Secretary of the Wellesley Board of Selectmen and has held this job for 33 years. Jack conducts informal seminars in town government for area students. He is primarily interested in the problem of getting citizens to participate in local government. Jack retires in April. He hopes to travel, do some writing, and look for new fields of public service.
